King of Sydney, Round 4

press release

Round 4 of the King of Sydney, sponsored by CDKC & CRG Kart Centre, was held at Lithgow last weekend. And Lithgow turned on a beautiful day for racing... “Ye right !!! “

Unfortunately the rain we had all week was at Lithgow as well. Again the Over 40 ‘J’s had the largest field for the weekend.

“It's great to see the competitors turn up to support this series, even in the rain. CDKC is proud to support the King of Sydney series and looks forward to hosting the last round in September”
said Tom Hearn, CDKC President.

The 3 heats were run in the rain and then the sun came out for the prefinal & final which allowed some really close racing.

The first 2 heats were won by Brian Scibberas & Wayne Ellis. The third heat was won by Glen Egan. All the action started in the Prefinal & Final with some really close & clean racing.

The Prefinal was won Wayne Ellis, followed by Brian Scibberas, Iain Thornton, Glen Egan & Cheryl Lee (great to see the Cheryl giving to the blokes). After the Prefinal, the crowd flocked to the fence to watch the Final. They were not disappointed with the top 5 drivers turning on a great race. All 5 drivers had their chance to win. Scibberas went on to win followed by Ellis 2nd , Egan 3rd , Cheryl Lee 4th & Thornton 5th.

It was great to see some of the new comers - Phil Alexander, Sam Silvestro and Graham Heath - putting in a huge effort in the rain. Mick Baker had an ordinary day but he came to terms with Lithgow track & the weather to finish the Final. He actually had a smile on his face at the end of the day.

It was all good practice for Coffs Harbour Over 40s (its bound to rain there). Good luck to all the competitors.

At the presentation, CRG Race Centre supplied some really great prizes and CDKC gave a set of tyres away. Yamaha & Dunlop Kart sport also support the series with prizes. Pamspix gave away a framed photo - A big thankyou to all of them.

We have a few months off now over winter. The next round is at Oran Park on the 16th August .
