2009 Rotax Pro Tour Starts This Weekend!

press release

The first Pro Tour event for 2009 commences this weekend 30th and 31st May at Newcastle Kart Club’s Cameron Park Raceway.

With all 160 competitors having one eye on the Rotax World Finals in Egypt later this year the racing will be the most hotly contested seen at Newcastle since the Rotax Nationals were conducted on the tricky layout just two seasons ago.

Reigning Rotax National Champions David Sera and Kel Treseder, NSW State Champions David Whitmore and Rick Pringle along with Queensland State Champion Jordie Lindstrom will all be trying to hold off determined charges from the likes of Josh Arandt, Daniel Baker and Simon Meyer.

Across the classes there are over 50 National and State Titles racing this weekend.

In its first year of championship status, competitors have flocked to the Junior Rotax class. 46 Junior Rotax competitors will compete for the final 40 grid spots in the final on Sunday. The competition will be fierce with two current National Champions and a number of State Champions competing in the class.

A one hour program of the Pro Tour I – ALL STARS CUP will be televised on Fox Sports. This show will be repeated twice for a total of three hours coverage. The schedule is as follows:

Friday June 19 – 10am, Fox Sports 2
