Radosevic & McBride Make CIK History

press release

The return of the Australian CIK Championships this weekend highlighted the agony and ecstasy of motorsport.

Hayden McBride won Final 2 in absolute style, however could have made it a double celebration except for a chain that came adrift when he had what appeared to be an unassailable lead in Final 1.
McBride was supreme winning final two, finishing 10.267 seconds ahead of Simon Roberts in second, showing the form which saw him win the Australian Rotax Light Championship on his home track a couple of years ago.

Roberts – from Raymond Terrace – completed the local quinella in Final 2, but annexed second in the first final also in his first taste of CIK competition. Third in Final 2 was Damian Radosevic, who took out the first final in a classic CIK Championship battle.

Tyson Pearce bogged down greeting the starter for Final 1 and worked his way through to be in a position to challenge for the win on the final lap. He passed Radosevic heading onto the back straightaway only to have his chain come off with just two corners left to go. Pearce had the same problem in Final 2, although far earlier in the 25 lap journey.

Another to suffer chain problems was Mitch Cunningham. The Kiwi flyer was back on form today before his kart threw it’s chain in both finals.
