Minch Claims KF3 Podium In New Castle

Miinch Motorsports pilot Taylor Miinch scored a second place result in the KF3 class at the inaugural Championship Karting International (CKI) event this past weekend at New Castle Motorsports Park. The talented 14-year-old also battled in the IAME Junior class but a broken header while leading just past the mid-race point cost Miinch the victory and the championship point lead.

After a decent qualifying effort in his Comer powered KF3, Miinch managed to have three consistent heat race results finishing fifth, second and third as he battled with the leaders all race long. Racing with competitors that have much more experience in the KF3 division, Miinch was very happy with his results and would start the prefinal on the outside of the second row.

Looking to move forward, Miinch moved into the top three early and would stay there all race long. Keeping pace with the lead duo, Miinch was looking to save his tires for the main event where he would make a solid bid at the win. Finishing the 12 lap prefinal in third would set up a good starting position for the main event, as Miinch would be on the more preferred inside line.

At the drop of the green flag for the final, Miinch quickly moved into the second position and set his sights on the leader. Keeping pace and working with the point man, Miinch was looking for the duo to draw away from the field but the pace of his fellow competitors would prevent him from doing that. Miinch was relegated back to P3 by the midway point and would stay there until the checkered flag flew. Miinch would advance forward in post race technical inspection as the second place finisher would be excluded from the results.

IAME JUNIOR
Miinch was a missile in the IAME Junior class as the talented Californian qualified fourth but would move forward through all three of his heat races. Claiming two seconds and a victory, Miinch would start the prefinal from the pole position as he would look to stay there throughout Sunday’s on track action.

The prefinal was dominated by Miinch as he claimed the victory by more than two seconds over his nearest rival. On a track where drafting is important and it is hard to pull away from your competitors, Miinch did so with ease to take the win and the pole position for the main event.

Pacing the field in the final, Miinch looked as if he would claim one of the top two positions as he and a fellow competitor worked together to get away from the field. With only a handful of laps to go, Miinch slowed dramatically as a broken header would take him out of contention for the win, and the Californian pulled into the pits giving up the top spot.
