Visiting drivers dominated the proceedings at the final warm-up event for next month's Southern Cross Motorsport Queensland State Championships held at Gympie’s Cooloola Coast Kart circuit last weekend.

Mackay’s Garioch brothers were two of the stars of the show in the Leopard Light category finishing one-two with Nathan taking the win ahead of his brother Justin and Toowoomba’s Brendan Nelson. Local driver Shay Mayes finished in fourth place.

Bundaberg’s Australian Champions Kel Treseder and Ryan Fulcher proved why they will start as favourites for next month’s Championships with strong victories in the Rotax Heavy and Clubman Super Heavy categories.

Gold Coasters filled the top three spots in the Clubman Light class with Jason Burns returning to the winner’s circle ahead of Scott McLaughlin and Ben Stewart while Damian Ward won Rotax Light. Ward’s younger brother, Lucas, made it two wins for the Stewart family with victory in the Junior Clubman division.

Toowoomba’s Jarred Lane won the Junior National Light category ahead of Benjamin Ham and Ethan O’Farrell while Damon Condon was the victor in the Heavy class.

Next month’s State Championships (July 3-5) are gearing up to be one of the largest karting events contested in Australia throughout 2009 with around 400 entries expected to be received for the event.

Karters wishing to enter for the Championships have until this Friday June 12 to place their entries with the Cooloola Coast Kart Club. The Supplementary Regulations can be found by clicking here.
