KF1 Karter To Win Formula Renault Test

press release

Renowned Michelin Formula Renault UK Championship team Manor Competition is delighted to announce it will offer a prize test drive in one of its front-running single-seater cars to the champion of this year's Super 1 B4/Renault MSA Formula KF1 British Karting Championship.

The multiple title winning team, which has been home to past karting superstars such as Lewis Hamilton, Paul Di Resta, Oliver Jarvis and Alexander Sims, will provide a full day of running to the 2009 British KF1 Champion as the Nottinghamshire squad strives to build an even stronger link to the grass roots of the sport.

"This is something we've wanted to do for quite a while", said team principal Tony Shaw, "Manor is keen to forge an even closer link with the young drivers coming out of karting and with KF1 being the pinnacle of the sport, we felt it made sense for us to offer a prize test to the British champion.

"Sarah (Shaw -- Manor Competition co-owner and race engineer) and I appreciate the important role karting plays in the career of a young driver and Formula Renault UK is undoubtedly the best proving ground for drivers when they are ready to progress into cars.

"We're looking forward to seeing who will win the championship this year and to working with them during the fully-funded test drive. We'd also like to express our thanks to Super 1 promoter Neil Hann and series director John Hoyle for welcoming the prize."

The Super 1 MSA British KF1 Karting Championship is the premier category in the country which is contested by drivers 16 years-of-age and over. Four events remain this season and entries for the KF1 series are still being accepted with a free tyre allocation offer from series backer Dunlop also available.
