Strong Start For Quinlan In Ontario Regional Racing

press release

Grant Quinlan, the 10-year old kart racer from the Windsor area, is enjoying an amazing start to the 2009 Ontario regional racing scene. So far in the Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship he has finished inside the top five in every feature race in three different classes and made the podium an impressive five out of six times.

“We are really happy with how things have gone so far this season,” comments Grant’s father and tuner Todd Quinlan. “It’s early and lots can still happen, but it’s nice to get off to a good start.”

Grant is a very skilled and diverse driver doing both two-cycle Rotax and four-cycle Honda classes at the regional level. While a rookie in the Mini Max classification, Grant is competing in his second year of Junior Honda action. 2009 marks the fourth year of competitive karting for this young rising star who started the 2009 campaign by competing in the prestigious Florida Winter Tour.

In round one, the BSRKC visited 3S Go-Karts of Sutton, Ontario. Quinlan would start on Saturday with Junior Medium and Mini Max. In Junior Medium the Birel pilot would take pole and finish a strong fourth in the final result. In Mini Max he would sweep the day taking pole, winning the pre-final and taking the final. On the Sunday Grant would run in the Junior Light category. Quinlan was able to secure pole with a strong opening lap and went onto cap off the day by taking the top spot on the podium.

“I can’t believe we did so well in the first round of BSRKC,” smiles Grant. “Three classes is a lot of racing and I worked hard to keep up with the changes we had to make.”

For the second round, the BSRKC series would return to 3S Go-Karts to run a new configuration to regional racing. In Junior Medium, Quinlan took pole followed by 2nd place finish in the final order. In Mini Max, Quinlan would show the way as he completed a perfect run taking pole, wining the prefinal and winning the final. Sunday would bring wet conditions at the start of the day, forcing the Quinlan Racing squad to adapt to changing conditions. In Junior Light, Quinlan would again be the man to beat as he took pole position. In the final Grant would be in a tough battle for second and was able to take the spot at the stripe.

“Getting all three poles is great,” comments Grant. “The team is really doing great and my Birel is awesome to drive. I hope I can keep winning and maybe get a chance to win the Championship.”
Grant will race next at the Point Pelee Karting Club, his home track for a double-header weekend. The next round of the BSRKC will take place on June 26 to 28 at Mosport Karting.
