This information should be considered by parents and competitors, who should also use their own judgement, when travelling to the greater metropolitan Melbourne region over the coming weeks.

The next major event on the Australian karting calendar in this region is the second round of the Australian CIK Championship to be held alongside the next event on the Rotax Pro Tour schedule on June 26/27.

Members looking to travel to this event should consider the information contained below under their respective state, which includes the recommendations and requirements from the State Health Authorities.

Information for AKA Members from Tasmania
All children returning from areas where there is widespread community transmission of the virus would be asked to stay home for a period of seven calendar days.

Given the high level of community transmission of human swine flu in Victoria, that means the protocol will apply to all children returning to Tasmania from Victoria. The exclusion will apply for seven days from departure from Victoria.

It applies to all children returning from Victoria and other affected areas, whether or not they have a flu-like illness.

Information for AKA Members from Victoria
Victoria is now in a modified ‘Sustain’ phase of its plan to manage the impact of this strain of influenza in our community.

The virus has so far been mild and can be compared to the normal winter flu.

There is no longer a need to quarantine everyone who has been in contact with a confirmed case of H1N1 Influenza. Only confirmed cases will need to be quarantined for three days and will all continue to be given the most appropriate treatment. Household members may continue to be provided with Tamiflu, but will not be quarantined.

The Victorian Government will focus on those most vulnerable to influenza: those in aged-care facilities, special developmental schools and hospitals.

Western Australia
