Leading Karters Join iRacing.com

press release

Three of Australia’s top karting stars have been chosen by NASCAR ace Marcos Ambrose to be a part of the newest motor racing craze, the iRacing.com Motorsport Simulation.

With 18 National Championships between them, David Sera, Jason Hryniuk and Matthew Wall are three of the most experienced kart racers in the country and their passion for motorsport isn’t just limited to the kart track.

Sera, who first got a taste for iRacing.com when he competed in the United States earlier this year, is delighted to have been chosen by Ambrose as a part of the launch of the simulation program into Australia.

“When I was racing in America earlier in the year the winners from the five classes raced head to head on iRacing.com – it was great that you could race against people of all ages and in an extremely realistic environment,” said Sera.

“I’m excited to be chosen by Marcos as an ambassador for the iRacing.com program in Australia and I assure you that I’ll be spending hours on end racing drivers from around the world on iRacing.com.”

For Hryniuk, the involvement in the iRacing.com program in Australia is a continuation of his second love behind karting – online gaming.

The Sydneysider was a top-10 runner in an online driving competition a few years ago, he was also ranked inside the top three in the ATP online tennis game and has been known to spend much of his time on-line gaming. However, with the launch of iRacing.com into Australia, Hryniuk says that all of his spare time will now be spent on the motorsport simulation program.

“I’ve just moved into a new house and one of the priorities was to have a dedicated room for gaming and now with the launch of iRacing.com and so many more people exposed to it, I am certainly going to be getting a workout,” said Hryniuk.

“I’ve played a lot of racing games over the past few years but none more realistic than iRacing.com. It provides you with the adrenaline rush as if you were racing in a real car, but the big thing is you don’t have to have the budget of hundreds of thousands of dollars to experience it.”

Wall, who has been one of the country’s top kart racers for a number of years, has also tried his hand at Formula Ford and Aussie Racing Cars throughout his career but he believes iRacing.com is one of the best things he has done behind a steering wheel.

“For the past 16 years of my life I’ve been racing karts along with some Formula Ford and Aussie Racing Cars but karting is where my passion and budget has always brought me back to,” said Wall.

“Now with iRacing.com I can enjoy the experience of racing cars on a variety of circuits without writing a big cheque to pay for it all.

“When Marcos was racing karts I was only a junior so I never got the opportunity to race against him but with iRacing.com I can take him, and many other drivers from all across the world, on while racing on an even playing field.”

Ambrose is delighted to have the trio as a part of the iRacing.com program and looks forward to having kart racers from all across the country being a part of the iRacing experience.

“iRacing.com is for everyone and we want as many kart racers as possible to experience this great online simulation service as soon as possible,” said Ambrose, who won two V8 Supercar championships before heading to the US and the world of NASCAR.

“iRacing.com allows people of all ages, experience and cheque book sizes to race on an even playing field while learning a lot about driving techniques and car control along the way. There is no doubt that iRacing.com has helped improve my driving skills and race preparation.

“Members can take on people from across the world – including myself, Dave, JH and Matty Wall – on a variety of circuits and in various different cars.”

iRacing.com has been developed over the past five years at a cost to date of more than $US25 million and offers host of road and oval racing experiences.

To celebrate the new relationship iRacing.com is offering Australian and New Zealand-based fans a special $US25 three-month introductory offer – 50% off the normal price.

Ambrose is doing his bit by giving all Australian and New Zealand members registered by August 30, 2009 the chance to win a return trip for two from their nearest capital city to the V8 Super School on Queensland’s Gold Coast in December.

At the school, which is jointly owned by Ambrose and V8 ace Paul Morris, the fans will have the chance to race Ambrose for real in an iRacing.com-branded Ford Falcon V8 race car. *conditions apply
