Wakefield's NKA Super Series Round

press release

The fifth round of the National Karting Alliance (NKA) Super Go Kart Series was run and won last Saturday (June 13) at Goulburn’s Wakefield Park Raceway and it turned out to be an exciting day of action.

With the Junior classes making a return to the NKA Super Series at this round, the fields in both Junior and Senior classes were filled with driver’s, young and old, eager to tackle the Wakefield Park Raceway circuit, many for the very first time.

In the combined Senior National and Senior Clubman class, the name Gurnett stayed at the pointy end of the field with the Gurnett boys, Robert and Michael fighting it out from the opening heat race through to the final. At the completion of the final it was Robert Gurnett that got the upper hand over his brother Michael and the driver that finished behind the sibling rivalry in third place was Leigh Wright.

After finishing second and third in his heat races; Brett Banfield won when it mattered most by taking out the final for the TAG Red Heavy class ahead of Adam Nassif and Graham Waldok.

The TAG Red Light class resulted in the final being won by Grant Gaffa, who had finished second in both of his heat races, and he managed to outpace heat race dominator Andrew Worner who had finished in second, and third place across the finish line was Enzo Mendicino.

Vic Roy proved too strong in the battle of the combined TAG Super Heavy and Over 40s class by winning the final in comprehensive fashion and he ended up defeating Shaun Tate and Matt Donnelly.

Despite not figuring in the winner’s circle during any of the earlier heat races in the Open Performance class; Daniel Orsini won the final. Sam Costa and Michael Pesce joined Orsini on the podium in second and third place.

The two Junior classes, Junior National and Junior Clubman combined and the Midget and Rookies combined, the final resulted in the victory spoils being shared between Daniel Nolan and Isaac Vaccarella. In the Junior National and Junior Clubman combined final Nolan defeated Bryce Davidson and Jack Bennett, while Vaccarella proved too quick for second and third place finishers Kieran Fairlie and Connor Hey.
