Central Coast Speedway, Round 4

press release

Around 60 drivers turned out for Round 4 of the Central Coast Speedway Kart Club championship at Gosford Kart Speedway on Sunday 14 June, and with the track fully re-graded, we were in for some great racing. The weather also played its totally unpredictable hand again with sunshine, light rain during the finals, and overcast and cold conditions generally prevailing.

We still have loads of new drivers on their P's, and it's great to see the new Ladies Clubman class continue to grow each round.

It didn't take long for the action to heat up, especially in Clubman Light, where quite a few starting and first corner incidents took out large numbers of competitors.

In the Midget class, Kyle Angel won the day again, followed very closely by John Gillespie, who managed to successfully hold off Kyle and win heat 3. David Blanch managed his first podium for third, after some consistent finishes.

The Rookies had Kristopher Johnson leading all day, but Levi Moir managed to sneak in a win in the feature race. Congratulations to Amy Shute who also came in third.

In the Juniors, Nikki Briton took out the days honours, just managing to beat Reagan Angel, followed closely by her sister Ashleigh, rounding out some great finishes by the girls !

As mentioned, the Clubman Light class had many non-finishers in the heats. Mitch Brien managed a great first podium win as a senior, followed by Greg Martin and Sharon Gillespie (still on her P's). Nathan Bailey managed to take out the feature race, after having kart troubles all day.

Clubman Heavies had some great racing with Matt Bond, Grant Lahiff, Ross Turnbull and Mart Watson battling it out for the trophies. Grant Lahiff eventually won the day, followed by Matt Bond and Ross Turnbull.

In the Clubman Over 40 class, Stuart Bond's form returned to take the days honours, followed closely by Matt Bond and Mick Lahiff. Congratulations to Gary Slarke who held on to win the Feature race in slippery conditions.

In our new Ladies Clubman class, Cassandra Genner won the day, followed by the big improver of late, Sharon Gillespie ! Kate Johnson took out third place and is enjoying her comeback. Congrats also to our newcomers Rebecca Powell and Karlie Moller who continue to improve immensely.

Our KT modified class had 3 P drivers and was the largest class of the day. Luke Storey finally had things go all his way giving him the win for the day. Rod Sievwright wasn't far behind followed by Les Green who managed to hang to third, after a DNF in heat 1.
