However, once concluded the races, there’s a lot of talk about the team games that in the karting world by WSK are called EuroCup. At the end of the fourth round in Genk (B), last weekend, the rankings for teams turn out to be hotly contested and thrilling like the long-distance challenges typical of endurance races. In Belgium as well, the special WSK contest for teams produced important results.

KZ2 grows heated, Intrepid holds on. Although the score achieved in Flanders doesn’t completely satisfy Intrepid Kart Technology that aimed at winning with Bas Lammers in the Final, the Italian team still holds its top position in EuroCup ranking, though with a narrow lead. What a shame Dutch driver slewed round in the Final. Nevertheless, Lammers’ success in the Pre-final, along with his team-mate Alessandro Piccini’s good position, curbs Tony Kart Racing Team’s pressing recovery. On the contrary, the team from Prevalle, Brescia celebrates a profitable weekend thanks to Marco Ardigo’s win in the Final to be added to his second place in the Pre-final: the white-green coloured team is now only 13 points below (100 against 87) black-orange Intrepid team. But the rainbow at the top is enriched with Birel Motorsport red colour as well: the team from Lissone, Milan left its mark in Genk, wrapping up two places on the podium with Francesco Laudato and Thomas Mich. Birel thus improves up to third position, narrowing the gap from the top. In the remaining two rounds (Salbris, in France and Zuera, in Spain) KZ2 Eurocup mood will be sparkling. The frantic work of the mechanics in the paddock in Genk was already showing how “heated” has been growing the present seasonal phase where further teams are expected to join in the struggle for the top. Among them, EuroCup ranking reports first PDB Racing Team, both Dutch and Italian CRG teams and Energy Corse.

Tony Kart Junior R.T. takes off in KF2. Tony Kart Junior Racing Team dominates EuroCup ranking thanks to English pair Ben Cooper and Chris Lock that might have dealt a conclusive blow, in Flanders. Besides Cooper’s two wins in Pre-final and Final, Energy Corse’s good position with Nicolaj Moller Madsen along with Joel Johansson stands out among end results in Genk. Ranking second, the Italian team chases now the English team by Paul Spencer, after overtaking MGM Racing that was very unlucky because Matteo Viganò (Birel-Parilla) ran up against few troubles. The situation among other pursuers is fairly fluid: Italsport team stands out thanks to an excellent Jesper Rossler (Birel-Parilla) who achieved a second place in the Final.

Chasing after Morsicani Racing in KF3. Euro Cup KF3 ranking left Genk outwardly unchanged. First five positions are static with Morsicani Racing always at the top in spite of Daniil Kvyat’s not easy races. Tony Kart Junior team stays always second, followed by Chiesa Corse. Dutch Keijzer Racing, on the contrary, improves up to sixth position, thanks to Peter Hoevenaars who impressively winning the Final, accomplished an excellent weekend.
