Sensational Speedway Kart GP Shootout

press release

The New South Wales Speedway Kart Club meeting held last Sunday (July 19th) at the superb Nepean Motorsports complex saw another brilliant day of speedway karting action with 90 of the best racers attacking the track.

It was round 5, the Design Effects supported Speedway Kart Grand Prix meeting and with a fine and sunny day the racing on the long track produced some of the best action seen this year.

With 15 nominations the KT Open Light saw heat wins going to Joel Goff, Nathan Randell and Alana Baines with Joel Goff repeating his opening heat victory with a win in the feature race. The round winner on the day was P Plate racer Amy Stewart with consistent placing all day she was certainly a very happy winner.

In the KT Heavy division, Wayne Baines continued his domination of the class, winning two heats, feature and the round giving the new KT Open Australian Titleholder and 2008 NSWSKC Champion another successful day on the race track. John Watton was the only racer to upset Wayne’s winning day picking up the victory in heat 2.

Regan Angel started the Junior’s day off in winning their first heat continuing his winning ways in heat three. Impressive Katelyn Hickey took out heat two while the feature race went to Kyle Pollock. Regan Angel with his two wins was also the round winner.

The quick machines, the Formula 100 again saw a great battle amongst the “top shots” with the heats taken out by Donald Stevens and Jonathan Bright (2 wins) with Joel Goff winning the feature. But at the end of the day the 2009 Australian Titleholder Jonathan Bright proved too strong and was the round winner.

An incident in the Midgets saw their feature red flagged with Luke Sayer with two heat victories taking the round points. Fast James Peters was the other heat winner in what was a strong and competitive 10 kart field.

Due to time commitments after the Midget’s red flag incident, the Clubman Light division didn’t run a feature race so with two heat wins Michael Jordan took out the round with Jason Woodward and Nathan Bailey finishing second and third. Nathan Bailey was also the winner of the opening heat.

Like the Clubman Light, the Rookie’s didn’t have a feature race saw it was Daniel Sayer who emerged the round winner with two heat wins. Second was Kristopher Johnson after winning heat two finished second with Jake Baines third.
