press release

The 2009 Rotax Max Challenge World Finals is to be held at the Ghibli Raceway in Sharm el Shiekh Egypt in December this year. Ghibli Raceway was the host of the 2003 Rotax Max Challenge World Finals where the Australian contingent acquitted themselves with distinction.

Six lucky Australian karters will be offered the opportunity to compete at this prestigious event based upon their positions in the National Rotax Rankings scheme.

As of the Monday following the Ipswich Pro Tour IV event (Monday 26th October) the top two ranked Junior Rotax drivers, the top ranked Rotax Light driver, the top ranked Rotax Heavy driver, the top ranked DD2 driver AND the top ranked Over 35’s driver will be offered the opportunity to compete at the 2009 Rotax Max Challenge World Finals.

The drivers to compete in the DD2 class in Egypt will be the top ranked DD2 driver and the Rotax Heavy driver. The Over 35’s driver will compete in the Senior Rotax class.

The package for the six competitors is being finalised but at a minimum includes entries for the event. Further details will be made available as they are provided to IKD by Rotax. There will be costs to each competitor including airfares, transfers and accommodation.

A video of the 2008 event is available for download (or viewing) from the Rotax Australia web site at www.rotax.com.au.

There are many opportunities remaining to gain valuable rankings points including the 2009 Rotax Nationals, Pro Tour IV, NSW State Titles and many other events. Remember that only the top eight points events make up each competitors rankings score.

Terms and conditions apply. Please see the IKD and Rotax web sites for details. Keep an eye on www.rotax.com.au for all the latest Rotax news and info.
