Lloyd’s 24-hour World Record Attempt

press release

Rotax 177 racer Lloyd de Boltz-Miller’s bid to set a new world 24 hour record began today (11 August) at 10am – but there’s still time for you to be part of it.

Lloyd says, “I’m doing this to raise vital funds for the Spinal Injuries Association. I’m aiming to do something nobody else in Britain has ever done before – spend 24 hours driving a kart non-stop. But the whole thing is really about supporting the amazing work of the SIA and for that, I want people to donate some money to the charity. It’s easy to do and you’ll be sharing my success if I beat the record.”

The record attempt is taking place on 11 / 12 August at Ellough Park Race Circuit, near Beccles in Suffolk.

Lloyd has already been generously supported by some of the most famous names in karting - Gillard Racing Karts, who have loaned him a chassis, Steve Ogden (Steve Ogden Motorsport) has also given Lloyd three Rotax motors to use, whilst Luke Hines at Grand Prix Racewear has kindly donated an Alpinestars racesuit, boots and gloves. Phoenix Distribution and JLF have joined forces to give Lloyd an Arai SK5 helmet, with Jason Fowler (JLF) creating a stunning new design commemorating Lloyd’s attempt.

Lloyd adds, “The current record is held by a South African driver and I want to bring it here, to Britain. I’ve been amazed by the support and offers of help from throughout the karting community, and that’s why I’m appealing to everybody in the sport in Britain to donate to this project.”

It's easy to donate online with a credit or debit card - just go to http://www.justgiving.com/Lloyd-de-Boltz-Miller.

“Just Giving will send your donation directly to the Spinal Injuries Association and automatically reclaims Gift Aid on all eligible donations, so what you give is worth even more. I hope you'll join me in supporting this fantastic organisation”.
