Vic Country Series - Round 4, Ballarat

ROOKIES
Heat 1
Mitchell Broome managed to lead for the first 2 laps before being overtaken by Jake Dixon. Jake Klein drove an excellent race, after starting off the 4th row of the grid, to move into 2nd place on lap 4. Tyler Morrison who followed Klien through the field took 3rd place.
Heat 2
Jaidyn Job was the race leader for the first 5 laps until Jake Klein took over the lead on lap 6. Klein was then passed by Rhys Wooley on the next lap. Rhys Wooley went on to take 1st place from Jake Klein 2nd with Jake Dixon who started from grid 15 driving exceptionally well to finish 3rd.
Final
The final was an excellent race with the first four places changing continually throughout the 10 laps. Jake Klein, Jaidyn Job, Jake Dixon all shared the lead through the race. With Will Hawkes coming into the mix as well on lap 6. After the 10 laps Jake Dixon finished in 1st, Jake Klein 2nd, Will Hawkes 3rd and Jaidyn Job 4th. The fastest time for the class was set by Jaidyn Job with a lap of 34.996 sec's in the final.

CLUBMAN HEAVY
Heat 1
Kevin Millard starting off pole was a little slow off the start and dropped to 3rd. He then worked his way back to dual with Michael Geist. Millard managed to win the heat from Geist, with Cameron Giddings who started from grid 13 finishing in 3rd place.
Heat 2
Kimberley Johnstone lead early closely followed by Travis Miller before Mitchell Cuzens from grid 8 took the lead with 3 laps to go. Cuzens held on to win followed by Travis Miller, with Scott King finishing 3rd.
Final
Mitchell Cuzens starting off pole lead from start to finish. Second place was held down by Travis Miller from early in the race. Cameron Giddings was in third before being challenged by Kevin Millard and Chris Halesworth. Millard took 3rd place with Giddings into 4th. The fastest time for the class was set by Scott King with a lap of 31.743 in the final.

CLUBMAN LIGHT
Heat 1
Wayne Bourke from pole led from start to finish of the first heat. Scott McLaughlin from grid 4 moved into 2nd place on lap 1 with Spencer Walker out of grid 9 taking 3rd place.
Heat 2
Spencer Walker took the lead early and led for the first 4 laps before Josh Raneri challenged and took over 1st place. Walker then held on to 2nd place with Robert Moore taking 3rd. Local driver Luke Fong managed to finish 4th.
Final
The battle for 1st and 2nd places was between Josh Raneri and Scott McLaughlin. Places changed frequently before McLaughlin took the lead in lap 6 and went on to win from Raneri in 2nd place. This time the local karter Ben Beasley who started from grid 12 managed to pick his way through the field to finish in 3rd place, from Andrew Carey in 4th.The fastest time for the class was set by Andrew Carey with a lap time of 31.22 in the final.

CLUBMAN OVER 40'S
Heat 1
The first heat of Over 40's was a two kart race between Craig Widgery and Greg           Mattschoss, who both started off the front row. Widgery took 1st with Mattschoss 2nd. Paul Sinni held down 3rd for several laps before being overtaken by Glen Henley who then went on to take 3rd place.
Heat 2
Trevor Handley from the third row of the grid had moved into the lead by the end of the second lap. Bevan Walker slotted in behind Handley to take 2nd place. Third place was shared by a number of karts. Initially Peter Dunyhoven held 3rd before being passed by Paul Sinni in lap 4. Dunyhoven then took the position back 2 laps later before Sinni overtook him in the next lap. Whilst they were challenging each other Greg Mattschoss, out of grid 13, was moving through the field. Greg managed to take over 3rd place with 2 laps to go and held on to third position.
Final
However Craig Widgery who had been rolling around in 3rd place for the best part of 6 laps managed to overtake Handley on the final lap to take 2nd place with Handley 3rd and Leon Forrest 4th. The fastest time for the class was set by Leon Forrest with a lap time of 32.198 in the final.

CLUBMAN SUPER HEAVY
Heat 1
Joe Romeo took the lead early and led for the first 5 laps before being overtaken by Rhys Baxter. Andrew Hayes managed to take the lead in the last lap to hold on to 1st, Baxter taking 2nd place with Darren Thomas taking 3rd.
Heat 2
Heat 2 seen Rhys Baxter followed by Andrew Hayes in first and second right from the first lap. Barry Pech moved into 3rd place in the 3rd laps and that seen the placing finish in that order.
Final
The race again between Hayes and Baxter who were by far the fastest in the class. Both starting on the front row Hayes took the lead and led for 6 laps before Baxter overtook Hayes on lap7 and going on to win by .133. Third place was taken by Barry Pech some 6.77 sec's. The fastest time for the class was set by Rhys Baxter with a lap time of 32.623 in the final.

JUNIOR CLUBMAN
Heat 1
Anton DePasquale off pole dominated the race leading from the start to claim 1st place. The minor placing’s was where the action was with three drivers battling it out for 2nd and 3rd places. Initially Andrew Hollis held 2nd with Brett Dillon in 3rd. On the second lap they swapped positions. Brett Dillon held down 2nd until the last lap when he was overtaken by Hayden Renshaw who claimed 2nd place. On his way through the field Renshaw had relegated Hollis down the order as well.
Heat 2
Todd Hazelwood off the front row ran in the lead, then second then first, then second through the complete race. He finally overtook Mitchell Willmott in the last lap to take 1st with Hayden Renshaw 2nd and Ash Quiddington in 3rd.
Final
The first 3 laps of the final were dominated by the first two rows f the grid. Todd Hazelwood led first then Ash Quiddington until Hayden Renshaw took the lead in lap 4, whilst Hazelwood was in 2nd and Quiddington in 3rd. Then on lap 6 Tegan Osborne moved       into 3rd. With 2 laps to go, Renshaw was comfortably in 1st Osborne 2nd. Jordan Nicolaou had worked his way into 3rd, with DePasquale in 4th. The fastest time for the class was set by Anton DePasquale with a lap time of 31.141 in the final.

JUNIOR NATIONAL HEAVY
Heat 1
Aaron Johnstone led for the first 4 laps before being passed by Tony Mayakis. Tony was only able to old the lead for a lap before being overtaken by Ash Quiddington, who then went on to win. Aaron Johnstone taking 2nd with Tony Marakis 3rd.
Heat 2
In heat 2 Ash Quiddington from the second row led from the first lap and was never passed. Simone Hodge was in 2nd for several laps before he was passed by Aaron Johnstone, who then went on to take 2nd place. When the field settled by lap 4 Mitchell Willmott had settled into 3rd.
Final
Initially the first two rows of the grid dominated early, before Ash Quiddington crashed out on the 3rd lap. By that time Aaron Johnstone, Anton DePasquale and Tony Marakis had positioned themselves for the three top spots. The placing’s changed a number of times in the final 6 laps. The final placing’s seen, Tony Marakis 1st, Aaron Johnstone 2nd, Mitchell 3rd and Simon Hodge 4th. The fastest time for the class was set by Simon Hodge with a lap time of 34.476 in the final.

JUNIOR NATIONAL LIGHT
Heat 1
Placing’s for this race were set by the time 3 laps had been completed. Todd Hazelwood had established himself into the lead followed by Bradley Jenner in 2nd and Jordan Nicolaou into 3rd.
Heat 2
Luke Walker led early only to be passed on lap 5 by Bradley Jenner, who then went on to win. After being passed by Jenner, Luke Walker held onto 2nd place until being overtaken on the last lap by Jordan Nicoloau. Walker then finishing in 3rd place.
Final
Jordan Nicoloau led the final race for the first 5 laps. He was then overtaken Bradley Jenner. The final 2 laps saw a great challenge between these 2 drivers, with Jenner finally winning from Nicoloau with Luke Walker finishing in 3rd and Todd Hazelwood 4th.

LEOPARD LIGHT
Heat 1
Seen Ben Kilsby starting off the front row to lead from start to finish. Andrew Stubs also off the front row held down 2nd place until being passed by Jake Fouracre. Jake held 2nd for four laps before Scott Purdie slipped into 2nd with two laps to go. Purdie finished in 2nd with Fouracre 3rd and Stubbs 4th.
Heat 2
Seen Scott Purdie hot off the start from the third row, moving into first place by lap 2. Scott held 1st until being overtaken in lap 7 by Reece Kawitzki, however Purdie drove well to take back the lead and win the second heat from Kawitizki with Owen Perry 3rd.
Final
The final seen a three way battle between, Ben Kilsby, Scott Purdie and Reece Kawitzi. Kilsby lead for then first 5 laps, before Kawitizki who had moved through from third to second and then took the lead from Kilsby. Purdie who had been in second then dropped to third when the passing moves had been completed. The final placings seen Reece Kawitizki finish 1st, Ben Kilsby 2nd, Scott Purdie 3rd and Jake Fouracre 4th. The fastest time for the class was set by Reece Kawitiki with a lap of 29.817 in the final.

MIDGETS
The Midget class was OVERSUBSCRIBED!! so the club and officials decided to seed the class into two fields. The final results seen only minimal change in the series top ten placing’s.

MIDGETS - GROUP A
Heat 1
The first heat seen Trent Job holding the lead or 5 of the 8 laps before being overtaken by Blake Graham. After being passed Job went back through the field lap by lap to finish in 4th place. Jack Nolan starting from grid 7 progressively moved through the field to take 2nd with Jordan Murphy taking 3rd.
Heat 2
Blake Graham was again too good for the rest of the field by moving into 1st place early and was never troubled, going on to win heat 2. Jordan Rae moved into 2nd place early in the race only to be caught ad passed by Jarrod Dwyer on the final lap. Dwyer finishing 2nd and Rae 3rd.
Final
The battle in the final was between Blake Graham and Jordan Murphy for the first 3 laps. Then Jarrod Dwyer and Jordan Rae began to challenge Graham. The first four places changed lap by lap. Finally after ten laps, Blake Graham took 1st place from Jarrod Dwyer 2nd, Jordan Murphy 3rd and Jordan Rae 4th. The fastest time for the class was set by Jordan Murphy with a lap of 36.291 sec's in the final.

MIDGETS - GROUP B
Heat 1
Josh Munn drive well to lead from the front for the complete race to finish 1st in heat 1. Megan Feast was in 2nd for the first couple of laps before being passed by Chase Wooley. Wooley went on to take 2nde place with Feast 3rd
Heat 2
Callam Belmonte off the front row led from start to finish. Likewise Dylan Hollis from the 2nd row moved into 2nd and was not troubled for the remainder of the race. Joshua Munn and Lachlan Naismith battled with each other for the majority of the race. Munn finally took 3rd place at the finish from Naismith.
Final
Joshua Munn took the lead early from the front row of the grid. Munn was overtaken by Megan Feast on lap 6. Chase Wooley who started out of grid 8 had by this time moved up to 3rd place. The places remained in this order until the final lap when Wooley moved into 1st Feast 2nd, Munn 3rd and Callam Belemonte 4th. The fastest time for the class was set by Morgan Feast with a lap of 36.332 sec's in the second heat.

ROTAX HEAVY
Heat 1
The placing’s were finalised after only one lap. Callum Clissold taking 1st place, Corey McCullagh 2nd and Andrew Stasse 3rd.
Heat 2
Corey McCullagh had taken the lead by the end of the first lap. Callum Clissold held down 2nd place until being overtaken by Andrew Stasse. In that passing move Clissold was relegated to 5th and Barry Stevenson took over 3rd place. On the final lap Callum Clissold worked his way back to take 3rd place.
Final
In the final Josh Willet made his presence felt. After finishing 7th in the first heat and a DNF in the second heat, he took the lead on the 2nd lap and was not troubled to hold on to 1st place. Andrew Stasse, Barry Stevenson and Corey McCullagh battled throughout the race for the minor placing’s. The positions changed a number of times before McCullagh moved into 2nd place with Stasse 3rd and Barry Stevenson 4th place. The fastest time for the class was set by Corey McCullagh with a lap of 30.792 sec's in the final.

ROTAX LIGHT
Heat 1
With a small field of only six the placing’s were fairly static throughout the race. Joel Smith and Matthew Graham placed 1st and 2nd whilst 3rd place was a battle between John Manganelli and Corey McCullagh. Manganelli led for the first half of the race before being overtaken by McCullagh, who went on to take 3rd.
Heat 2
Corey McCullagh took the lead from the front row of the grid and led for the first 5 laps. He was then passed by Wayne Bourke. In this passing move Joel Smith followed Bourke through to move into 2nd place, relegating McCullagh to 4th. Broe Shiells moved into 3rd place.
Final
Joel Smith took the lead early and was troubled only in lap 7 when he was passed by Broe Shiells. Broe only managed to hold the lead for a lap before it was taken back by Smith on the next lap. Wayne Bourke held down 2nd place before Shiells come on the scene in lap 7. Joel Smith went on to take 1st with Broe Shiells 2nd, Wayne Bourke 3rd and Matthew Graham 4th. The fastest time for the class was set by Broe Shiells with a lap of 30.659 sec's in the final.

SENIOR NATIONAL PRO
Heat 1
With a field of 17 the first heat was hotly contested with 8 drivers sharing the first 4 placed throughout the race. During this heat, 4 different drivers held the lead at some time during the race. Matthew Keiller was first to lead for two laps until Jackson Evans took over for one. Andrew Rae then took over first for three laps, before Tyler Cramer took the lead with two laps to go. During these changes the minor placing’s were also swapping frequently. Cramer went on to take 1st place with Andrew Rae 2nd and Drew Masterson 3rd.
Heat 2
Andrew Smith and Clancy Purdie challenged for the lead early before Purdie took the lead and was not challenged. When Clancy Purdie took the lead Smith assumed 2nd place before Tyler Cramer took over second place halfway through the race and Andrew Smith 3rd.
Final
Tyler Cramer drove a good race to lead from the front for the complete race to take 1st. Clancy Purdie had moved into 2nd by the 4th lap and went on to take 2nd from Andrew Rae in 3rd and Drew Masterson 4th. The fastest time for the class was set by Clancy Purdie with a lap of 34.543 sec's in the final.
