Mackay Circuit Upgrade Progressing Well

The Mackay Kart Club is currently in the middle of transforming their current 620m long x 7m wide no frills track into a 765m long x 8m wide track  with a few more bells and whistles. Only the two challenging switch backs remain from the old track with new kerbing, drainage, warning lights at flag points, new scale shed, new in grid and covered out grids (to be constructed) making the transformation pretty god damm amazing in such a short time.

Work started on July 19 under the watchful eye of Mark Muscat, our track co-ordinator, with the expertise of Joseph Haber of Haber Excavations and all his equipment. Progress has been rapid and looks impressive.  Doug Legge has been leading the way in bringing all our electrical systems up to date with new mains cable and switchboards, underground cables to all our lighting towers and control cables to our flag points.  Bevan Garioch and his crew are doubling the size of the control tower and the fencing crew are hard at work trying to make it safe for competitors and spectators alike.  Also it should be noted the large number of club members who have given up their time to help at the working bees - a huge thank you is in order.

All are welcome to come and test your skills at the Queensland Closed  Titles to be held  September 26th/27th with the track to be opened hopefully for practice on  September 13th.

See you all there.
