Do You Want To Be An Australasian Kart Champion?

press release

The Goulburn Valley Kart Club is pleased to announce the 18th running of the Australasian Kart Titles at
Numurkah Raceway, Vic. To be held the weekend of 4th,5th & 6th September 2009. The event was originally established in 1991, providing alternative classes to the State & National Title events, with the title recognition of ‘the RED plate’. This tradition continues, with a strong focus on the spread of Club racing classes including Junior National, Clubman, Rotax & Leopard. All classes are open to Provisional licence holders.

Continuing the GVKC philosophy that driver education is a key to reducing the road toll, the Feature classes for the event will be ALL the junior classes including: Rookies, Midgets, Junior National, Junior Clubman and Junior Max. With support from the Moira Shire and Empire Trade Exchange, trophies will be presented to fifth place for all junior classes, as well as limited edition prints for the Champions.

For this year we have introduced Midgets – Division 1 and 2:
Division 1/ everyone over 12 months of racing.
Division 2/ under 12 months of racing and P platers – NO red plate or print will be awarded for this class.

In all, over 250 racers will compete in 14 classes. Drivers will participate in four races over two days, culminating in a winner take all Championship final on Sunday afternoon. The Australasian Kart Title is a recognized Victorian Karting Association title and the victors are awarded the right to carry the prestigious Champions, Red Number Plate, the only ‘plate’ offered outside of various State & National titles, as well as an Australasian Kart Titles cup. We anticipate the return of several past Champions including double podium winner, Chad Wissler, Mitch McLeod and Jack Cox. In the absence of 2008 Karter of the year, Garry Jacobson and 7 times Australasian Kart Title holder, Justin Riddell not returning to defend their titles, the opportunity exists for a new generation of Australasian Kart Champions to stand on the podium.

The Goulburn Valley Kart Club celebrates 50 years of karting having been established in 1959 making it one of the longest standing clubs in Australia. The picturesque Numurkah Raceway is positioned in North East country Victoria, nestled in a natural park setting. The existing circuit was first sealed in 1974 and the fast flowing nature of the 532m track has attracted Australia’s top Karters to Numurkah ever since. The track is uncompromising in nature and rewards consistent drivers, providing a very different challenge to the larger circuits around the country. Short straights connected by a series of technical corners and sweepers provide many passing opportunities and tight racing.

The Australasian Kart Titles provide a relaxed atmosphere combined with highly competitive racing. Camping is available on site, while catering will be provided over the course of the weekend. The picturesque circuit is very spectator friendly, with several vantage points to view all the on track action. Not only will attendees see some great racing action, but this event will display all the great attractions of Kart racing. Spectators are very welcome with a gold coin donation requested at the gate.

The approved Supplementary Regulations have been posted on the KartSportNews Race Calendar page.
