Brian Sciberras Is The King of Sydney 2009

The presentation for the Over 40s J Series King of Sydney 2009 was held at Eastern Creek on Saturday.

There were 31 drivers who competed in the 6 round series and the winner of the King of Sydney for 2009 title was Brian Sciberras. Wayne Ellis was second and Iain Thornton third.

Brian thanked his sponsors and is looking forward to defending his title in 2110.  “It was a great series and racing was close all year. A big thanks to the organizers. I am looking forward defending my title next year” he said.

Through the year the North Shore Kart Club, Sydney Kart Racing Club & Combined Districts Kart Club supported the series, each giving away a set of tyres for each round. CRG Kart Centre, Kart 1, Parramatta Kart Warehouse, Dunlop Kartsports, Yamaha and Pampix all pitched in to provide prizes for each round. Approximately $4000 worth of  prizes were handed out over the series and every driver received something through the year.

“I was very pleased to see the support from the local kart shops and the clubs provided through the year" said Iain Thornton, the series organizer. "The drivers all enjoyed the racing. It was great to see the new comers, mainly the fathers of the Juniors, having a go. It was a great success”

Plans are underway for the 2010 series with the first round at Eastern Creek (the Brian Farley meeting in January).
