ProKart Australia Grand Finale This Saturday

press release

The ‘Grand Finale’ for the 2009 Powered by Honda ProKart Australia National, New South Wales and Queensland Endurance Kart Championships is to be staged this Saturday (November 14) at the Raleigh International Raceway, near Coffs Harbour on the North Coast of NSW.

With the NSW and QLD Championships, both the ninth and final rounds, having already been decided at the previous round with wins taken out by the # 3 Wollongong City Raceway Jets and the # 98 Adrenalin Rush Karting teams respectively, the National Championship is far from decided. Heading into the fourth and final round of the National Championship there are three teams that have a realistic chance to win the crown and they are the # 3 Wollongong City Raceway Jets, # 98 Adrenalin Rush Karting and the defending National champions # 1 Team Kaos.

This Saturday will be the second occasion that the ProKart Australia teams have competed at the Raleigh International Raceway circuit. Over the June Long Weekend earlier this year an ‘8 Hour’ race was held and it resulted in the # 98 Adrenalin Rush Karting team taking home the winning honours and they defeated # 1 Team Kaos and # 3 Wollongong City Raceway Jets in second and third place respectively on the podium. Incidentally, the same three teams that will be fighting it out for National Championship glory this Saturday.

Although they may be out championship contention it isn’t going to stop the likes of # 50 Team 5051R, # 21 Walkos Shire Racing, # 777 Horsepower Racing, # 82 Team SBR, # 661 PDS Grand Prix, # 86 Adrenalin Rush Karting and co from wanting to finish the year on a successful note.

There are going to be close to 30 teams, consisting of between 2 to 3 drivers, that will be lining up to have a shot at winning the ‘Raleigh 6 Hour’.

Endurance Kart Racing consistently brings in plenty of race action and sees the switch of positions throughout the race due to drivers having to pit for driver changes and re-fuel. The race action itself is also a test for the drivers themselves as they must drive for long periods at a time which will test their driving skills and also test each team with their preparation and team work. In Endurance Kart racing it is not always the fastest team that wins, but the most consistent.

Each team will take part in both practice and qualifying sessions from 8am and the ‘Raleigh 6 Hour’ race itself is set to start at 10am and conclude at 4pm.

The Raleigh International Raceway is located on the Valery Road, Raleigh, near Coffs Harbour
