Junior Karter Battles Competitors - And Diabetes

Battling competitors on track every weekend is nothing to the battle that Chase Pelletier faces every day of his life. The standout Junior kart racer continues to impress in regional racing action as he deals with having Juvenile Diabetes.

The 13-year-old racer from Brampton, Ontario has been steadily moving up the ranks. Chase will now be competing across Ontario and Quebec in several Championships for 2010 including the Florida Winter Tour, Hamilton Regional Karting Championship, Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship and the Coupe de Montreal. The goal for the 2010 is a strong finish at the ASN Canada FIA Canadian Nationals being held in St. Roch, Quebec.

In 2009 Chase moved to the Junior ranks and competed head to head with the countries best at the BSRKC. Chase made steady improvement all season as he worked with the bigger car and higher horsepower. He raced in one of the deepest and strongest fields in North America. According the EKN.ca National Junior Rankings, Chase was the highest ranked driver with only 5 starts. He would sit 44th overall out of 86 ranked drivers across all of Canada and took 3rd overall in HRKC.

Racing with Type 1 Diabetes is a challenge that is made much easier through the use of Chase's Animas Ping insulin pump. The adrenaline rush of racing works to push his blood glucose numbers up but the steady feed of insulin from the Animas Ping keeps it in check.  To guard against a low blood glucose, Chase uses Dex 4 Glucose, if he sees his blood glucose dropping, a quick Dex 4 Glucose tablet brings things exactly where they need to be rapidly and predictably so he can focus on racing. Chase gets all his Diabetic supplies online at Diabetes Express.

With a new year and new challenges, Chase's team, High Velocity Motorsports, has significantly upped their game in support of Diabetes Research by engaging like-minded companies in the industry.
