NSW Speedway Kart Club Presentations

press release

Sunday the 13th December saw the chequered flag fall on what has been the best season in the 19 years of the NSW Speedway Kart Club.

Over 280 members, relatives and guests turned out at the annual end of season presentation evening held at St Marys Leagues Club to celebrate the achievements and success’s of the 2009 season .

kart presenttion night

In the room were a number of speedway identities and the club is grateful that they were good enough to come and spend time with the future of the sport. Stars from the past, such as Sid Hopping, Sid Middlemiss, and Rocket Rod Bowen were present, along with the current stars of the day, Australia 1 Garry Brazier, current TPCR Track Champion, Mitchell Dumesny, one of the countries leading speedcar drivers, Mark Brown and along with numerous other driver’s were scattered through the room.

Along with these people we had a special guest of honor to present our Club Championship awards and it was a great pleasure to have Melinda Dumensy do this for us. The Dumensy name is entrenched in speedway history and with all that they collectively have achieved and continue to achieve, we as a club are very fortunate that they still have involvement with us.

The evening was started with a DVD recollection of our season and at each of the 3 breaks a different DVD recording the year was played and the editing work from Cameron Coghlan was fantastic and added a professional touch to the night.

Together with the drivers noted above, other guests included high profile motorsport journalist’s and magazine owners and all indicated their delight at the presentation the club produced and have suggested that the evening will be covered in their various publications .

Another highlight of  the evening was the unveiling of the first ever hardcover coffee table book produced by Gavin Skeene, in conjunction with the club, and this highlights the club and its achievements throughout  this year .

This very  professionally produced 80 page book showcased our season and has captured this  time in our history for ever. It was very well received by our members and over 30 orders were taken on the night.

The night, as has been the season, was filled with happiness, fun and laughter as families relaxed and enjoyed their time together as the season wound down.

There were a number of surprises within the awards and a full list can be viewed below..

The Executive Committee would like to thank all who contributed to the season and to the presentation dinner and we would like to also thank  everyone who attended the night.

As the year now winds down we  hope all our members and your families and friends have a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe New Year and we look forward the seeing everyone in February 2010 as we start our 20th Anniversary season .
