Canberra Karter's Speedway Debut

Canberra junior karter Liam Heaton enjoyed success on his debut at Canberra Speedway and Moruya Speedway over the Christmas period.

Driving the Kart Garage/UPR.com Toyota Corolla, Liam, being the "newcomer", had to start at the rear of the heats and showed early speed to record top five placings. In the feature event for the Junior Sedans he was a fast finishing 4th place to seasoned young driver Ben Nicastri.

Moruya Speedway had their Xmas meet on boxing day night and after some difficulty in getting used to the slick track during heats, father Russell mastered the car setup and Liam mastered the driving, winning the final from Bega's Matt Nielson in a similiar Corolla.

While his next speedway event is at Goulburn on January 16, Liam will in the mean time continue to test his new Intrepid Cruiser V J-Max kart in readiness for the Pro Tour Meeting in Geelong on the long weekend. Liam commented the new kart has seen a "gain of nearly half a second around the Canberra Kart Circuit" and would like to thank Ken at Koas Karting for arranging the new chassis to test.
