Superkarts Hit The Mountain

Superkarts blasted around Mt Panorama, Bathurst last Friday - and the verdict from the drivers was a big Thumbs Up. Six karts from 3 categories took to the circuit to evaluate it's suitability for Superkart racing.

"My God, this was sensational" Wayne Horswell informed KartSportNews. "The place went wild when Superkarts went out for our 3 lap test. People were waving, clapping, cheering and camera flashes going off everywhere."

With dark clouds approaching, CAMS mandated all karts had to be fitted with wets - which chewed out over the three laps. Apart from burning up the soft wet rubber, all the karts handled the circuit with ease. Conrod straight proved not to be too long and it is expected that in better conditions the 250 Inters would be doing similar times to the V8s.

"The Rotax MAXes handled the mountain with ease and all handled Conrod straight with ease" Horswell added. "The pitwall was lined and standing room only."

"We must remember that this test was only another piece in the puzzle of gaining a permit to race at the mountain. Being that this was a safety session to get a drivers perspective, it’s very pleasing to hear no real issues were found. NSW Superkarts will now move forward to the next step."
