Adam Macrow Racing Strong at Begonia City Classic

press release

AMR Drivers Damon Strongman, Mitch Wilmot and Andrew Cash all enjoyed race wins in their respective classes at the Begonia City Classic held in Ballarat over the weekend.

Damon Strongman crossed the line for his maiden race win in the ultra competitive Junior National Light class, not long after progressing out of Rookies.  The win in the final race highlights the potential Damon has and is definitely a sign of things to come from the young Victorian.  The win didn’t come easily though, with Damon and rival Jake Klein going toe to toe. While Strongman won the last race, Klein was top point scorer for the day.

“It’s a great feeling to score my first race win in Juniors.  Dad and I have worked really hard and it’s paying off!  A big thanks to Adam who has spent lots of hours developing our engine and chassis package, there is no way I would be here if we didn’t have him in our corner!” Strongman said.

Mitch Wilmot won Junior National Heavy in style by beating newly crowned State Champion, Jordan Nicolaou. Wilmot won two of his three races, including the final heat 3.

“I always knew we had the pace, so it’s nice to put it to good use this weekend.  Bring on the Nationals!”  Wilmot said.

New AMR driver, Andrew Cash, was the pace setter on the track in Clubman Heavy but was later DQ'd for an off-track incident. Prior to this he carded two wins and a second - a feat that was was all the more amazing considering Andrew had to start from the back of the grid due to still being on his P plates.

“I have never driven a Clubman engine like this one. The power of the engine right through the range was incredible.  I have to thank AMR for providing me with the equipment to allow me to show what I can do.” Cash said.

Young up and coming AMR driver, Jarrod Dwyer, also showed great pace in the Rookie class. After leading from the start in the final, it was heartbreak for Jarrod after a mechanical issue forced him to retire.

Adam Macrow Racing would like to congratulate Damon, Mitch and Andrew on their outstanding performances.
