IAME Colours The WSK Podium

press release

The WSK Euro Series started a new racing season at the La Conca circuit in Muro Leccese. The IAME Parilla engines were immediately up front powering Nyck De Vries to an overall second place in his debut in Super KF. There were also some excellent finishes in the other categories.

SKF is a good place to start. Here Nyck De Vries (Zanardi/Parilla), 15 years old, who had jumped two categories and immediately impressed everybody. The Dutchman was fastest in Friday qualifying heats beating the track record. He drove like lightening. On Saturday there was the Superpole which assigns the first Championship points: he was second. So he started 12th in the pre-final. But thanks to a series of fastest laps (he recorded the second best lap time) he recovered to take 4th place. He continued to be fast in the final and soon caught up with the leaders and ends second.

KZ1
Jack Hawksworth (Maddox/Parilla), in his debut in the category with gears, defended the IAME colours. He finished qualifying in 9th place, and then in the pre-final and the final he maintained his position, closing in 12th place in the general standings. A good result on which to build during the season. Very interesting results also for Marco Zanchetta and Morgan Weber, both on DR/Parilla.

KF2
The IAME drivers had an excellent qualifying session in KF2: Antonio Giovinazzi (Top Kart/Parilla) was 7th and Sami Luka (Dr/Parilla) 8th. Then some bad luck a disqualification of the finnish driver and a few contacts compromised their weekend. Worthy of note was the excellent come back, following qualifying heats, of Simone Favaro who started 23rd and finished 13th in the pre-final. Then he was forced to retire on the fifth lap of the final.

KF3
In KF3 the IAME drivers did well. In qualifying Jack Dennis (Top-Kart/Parilla) did a good job, first in his group. Too bad that the week-end didn’t give him better chance. Pierre Gasly (Sodi/Parilla) is the absolute protagonist in all races but ends 9th in finale due to a contact. Worthy of note the comebacks of Nicklas Nielsen (DR/Parilla), in final he started 17th and ended 10th (12th in general standings) and of Lucas Auer (Maddox/Parilla) who, in prefinal, ends 12th starting from 24th. In final he ends 17th.

THE COMMENT

Andrea Bossaglia, IAME Technical Manager:
La Conca is one of the most complete and hard tracks of the circus for engines. The temperatures were very low and some problems were detected specially when looking for a correct carburetion.

Even though, we haven’t always achieved top results, I am happy of our performance in all categories and I wish to thank whoever has given his contribution.

This race was the debut in KZ1/KZ2 and I consider this as very positive. An excellent performance and the lack of reliability problems have allowed us to fight with our competitors and to collect precious information for further development.
