Super4Series Round 2

press release

Super4Series 2010 is the premier Rotax and Leopard series in WA this year with great sponsorship from IKD, Rotax Australia, Remo Racing and K-TEQ Rentals Karratha.

A prize pool will also be available at the end of the series. This series will have prizes to the value of around $8000+ by the end of the four rounds.

After having abandoned their clubrun last weekend due to severe weather, Midwest Kart Club were thrilled to receive 141 entries for the weekend’s Super4Series 2010 Round Two at the Moonyoonooka circuit.

With some drivers having already packed their gear and headed off to the east for the Nationals, fields were still good and very competitive. Many campers set up in the pit area and surrounds with plenty of TV coverage to keep an eye on the Australian Grand Prix being staged in Melbourne. Base Stations, impressive camping rigs, bbq’s and webers were around us all. There were even some hand fed and hand reared Lorikeets in the pit area!

Remo Racing prizes of tyres were won by Tim Barnes (Tiger Kart Club) and Rick Howe (Hurricane Kart Club).
Remo Racing have also donated prizes to the top three drivers in each Leopard Light and Heavy class. Top three placings receive vouchers of $100, $60, $30 in each Leopard class.

IKD provided a set of MOJO tyres to be won by random draw for all Rotax entrants. Joshua Merritt (Bunbury City Kart Club) was very pleased to pick up this prize.

K-TEQ Rentals from Karratha have provided sponsorship for the series so that all Midgets and Rookies receive a participation award. At this meeting, all the young ones received participation trophies.

Further results and full progressive points are available via the Tiger Kart Club website HERE.

Round Three will be held on Sunday 30 May at the Wanneroo circuit of Tiger Kart Club.

Race notes:

Rotax Light: A good weekend for Soutar Dawson with three wins and a third placing. Scoble was
off the mark in heat one to take the win, but had to settle for a third and two seconds. It was
Brendon Hope from Midwest who was there to provide the challenge to Soutar Dawson and Scoble
to take third placing for the day. Hounsfield, who has just come up from Juniors showed some
good pace in heat one.

Rotax Heavy: A good field of 15 for this event with Shane Ratcliffe, John Brennan, Duncan Foster
and Luke Purser each taking a heat win.

Leopard Light: This was Andrew Prince all the way, taking all four heat wins. Michael Goss had to
settle for second to Prince for the whole day and Rhett Noonan made up the podium.

Leopard Heavy: Tim Barnes had a great weekend, picking up two seconds and two firsts in the
heats, as well then winning the draw from Remo Racing for a set of tyres in this class. Pavan
Kandola showed good form in the first two heats, but a DNF in the third heat cost him dearly
pointswise. Vince DeMarte took second place for the day.

Midgets: Joshua Wood showed consistency with three solid heat wins and a third to take the day.
Brock Kenny continued to show consistency with two fourths, but a better Sunday gave him two
seconds to put him on the podium in second place. Sam Dicker took the first heat win and had to
settle for third place overall.

Rookies: The heat wins for this class were shared between Brock Boley (1), Jonathon Ridden (2)
and Thomas Schou (1). Kostecki struggled to find his usual form at this circuit, and after a
convincing Round One win had to settle for fourth place. Ridden took the day, but only 9 points
ahead of Boley who continues to show good pace.

Junior National Combined: This was almost a survival of the fittest. The number of DNF’s in this
class was simply painful to witness. Matthew Wilkins took three heat wins, the other going to Jay-
Dee Dack. Consistency and staying on the track proved to earn the points here.

Junior Rotax: Anthony Martin from Eastern Goldfields was the man on the move this weekend
with three heat wins. Matt Trawinski couldn’t match him and settled second overall on the day.
Mitchell Rock scored a good heat one win, but then minor placings for the rest of the meeting.
Cody McLachlan rounded out the top three.

Over 40’s: This was to be Roy’s weekend again. Tester took three heat wins and local driver Alan
Watson took the win in the second heat. It was Wayne Bell in third place on the podium with two
seconds to his credit.

Sportsman 125 Restricted: Simon Iseppi showed good speed to take two heat wins and two
seconds, enough to secure first place overall. Troy Johnson, who had taken Round One soundly
had a fourth in heat one which kept him down in points. Two heat wins and a second did place
Johnson on P2 of the podium. Local driver Reg Kelly was delighted with second placing for heat
one and a fourth for heat three.

Open: Jason Youd took three heat wins with Daniel Currey taking the other. Marjoram showed
good form in heat one to take a second, but then had to settle for thirds for the rest of the
meeting.
