Non-Gearbox Superkart Nationals Cancelled

The 2010 Non-Gearbox Superkart Nationals has been cancelled. Scheduled to run at Mallala on 29/30 May, this is the second time in two years the event has not run due to lack of registrations.

press release

The Shannons Non Gearbox Round at MALLALA has closed. The low entrant numbers has caused the event to be cancelled. SKA is saddened by this but as the nature of all racing events, the low numbers has caused the 2010 event to finish with 6 entrants in total.

SKA will revisit the situation to see if the event, in another form could be created in the future.  The Shannons Nationals is dissapointed that the event has had to be removed from their calander but is sympathetic to thefact that SKA has had to abandon the event through lack of interest. The last time the Non gearbox Nationals were held was in 2008. With the 2009 and 2010 Events falling over due to lack of registrations, it seems, that it may be some time before a National Non Gearbox field will be seen again.

SKA regret this Shannons cancellation, as directors we felt it was a class worth fighting for, being, the budget entry into Superkarting. Multipile efforts were placed to give it the best chance to succeed, with reduced entry fees, lowed grid numbers, and track placement but all to no avail.

Full refunds will be made to the Non Gearbox drivers that entered the Mallala event, and a thank you is extended from SKA for the drivers supporting their class, in which was to showcase Non Gearbox Superkarting.

On a more positive note the Shannons Gearbox Nationals has been nothing short of amazing with record registrations! And with a near capacity grid at Philip Island this is shaping up to be the most impressive show we have seen in years. The SKA new formula seems to fit well within our racing comunity. SKA thanks all the Gearbox competitors masive entry list for showing their support. With International entries as well as a top field of local competitors, Superkarts will be the showcase at this round of the Shannons Nationals.

SKA hope to see as many  Superkart members and guests at PI for a fantastic specticle. This will set up the final round at for Morgan Park where the new track will be the great equaliser for all competitors.

Thankyou all again for your support and look forward to seeing you at the Island.
