Luneman Fitted For Gearbox Debut

press release

Though having raced in the Non Gearbox classes for 4 years through the junior ranks and now in seniors, 18 year old Brendan Luneman had not sat in a Gearbox Superkart until Calder Park at the last round of the Victorian Superkart Club series a little over a week ago.

In the lead up to his debut in the STR Racing 250cc single cylinder National class kart at Phillip Island this weekend, Luneman had to sit through a seat fitting and controls adjustment session at the STR Racing workshop.

The #48 Yamaha powered Anderson chassis kart Luneman will pilot for the 3 days, Friday practice and Saturday/Sunday race meeting, had the final adjustments made to suit and then Luneman was shown the rest of the teams facilities before a team briefing.

During the briefing Luneman commented “After having done only 4 laps of Calder the other weekend I would be happy with a midfield result for the weekend with such a strong entry list for the class, but the main competition is always from your team mate so beating “The Boss” (team owner/driver Matt Palmer) is on top of the to do list”.

Entries for the 250cc National class are from Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and New Zealand with the expected front runners being David Yuill, Luke May, Marty Latta and Wayne Sproston.

STR Racing is thankful to their supporters Wurth Products, Seaford Truck Refinishers, FAB Racing, Quarry Maintenance Service and STR Truck Bodies for enabling them to assist the development of young drivers.
