Preview: Rnd 4, NSW Endurance Kart Championship

press release

The 2010 Powered by Honda ProKart Australia NSW Endurance Kart Championship is set to resume this Sunday (May 16) at the Fairbairn Kart Track, near Canberra in the A.C.T, with the running of the fourth round.

Heading into the fourth round of the NSW Championship the competition has never been fiercer and if the round last, the Windsor 6 Hour last month, is anything to go by then the battle around the 730 metre Fairbairn Kart Track this Sunday should be no different.

Last start NSW Championship round winner’s, # 23 Bell Pipes Racing, are no doubt aiming to continue their winning ways after they were able to snap the winning streak of defending NSW and National Champions # 1 Jets Motorsport at the ‘Windsor 6 Hour’.

The # 1 Jets Motorsport team was left deeply disappointed after their worst ever ProKart Australia competition finish ever at the ‘Windsor 6 Hour’ and they are determined to make amends and bounce back into the winner’s circle. The # 1 Jets Motorsport team are the defending ‘Canberra 7 Hour’ winners and they have set their sights on a repeat performance.

Runner up to the # 1 Jets Motorsport in last year’s ‘Canberra 7 Hour’ were the # 777 Horsepower Racing and will certainly be looking to go one spot better this time around and take the victory spoils.

In what will be a first for the former National and NSW Champions # 6 Team Kaos in ProKart Australia competition; they will feature all three Briton brothers Brian, Mikey and Brook and it will be interesting to see how they fare throughout the ‘Canberra 7 Hour’ event.

Other team’s such as # 21 Walkos Racing, # 5 Random Racing, # 66 Team Kaos, # 46 Starkey Motorsport, # 37 Shire Racing, # 2 Team SCR, # 71 KBC Racing and # 14 Two Dogs Racing are yet to get into the winner’s circle so far this year, but their speed indicates that they are certainly not to be discounted when it comes to other ‘Canberra 7 Hour’ contenders.

Each team contesting the ‘Canberra 7 Hour’ has between two and five drivers per team and throughout the race they are required to make numerous pit stops for things such as driver changes, fuel, tyre changes and repairs. Endurance Karting is one of the most exciting and tactical forms of Motorsport and around the technical Fairbairn Park Kart Track circuit anything can happen. The winners in Endurance Karting are necessarily not always the fastest out on the circuit but sometimes consistency can conquer all in the end.

The entire ‘Canberra 7 Hour’ can be viewed live via the video link on: prokart.racertv.com.au

Practice and qualifying session’s kick off from 8am on Sunday and then the ‘Canberra 7 Hour’ race starts at 10am and goes right through to 5pm.

The Fairbairn Park Kart Track is located at Pialligo Ave, Pialligo, near Canberra in the A.C.T.
