Nova Sponsors TOPGUN Junior Team Drivers

press release

Sydney radio station Nova has announced a sponsorship of TOPGUN Racing team junior drivers Jake Parsons and Jonathan Venter as part of a program to teach young karters about sponsorship in the sport.

The program, created by champion go karter and founder of TOPGUN Racing Academy Troy Hunt, aims to extend young karters’ skills beyond driving and expose them to broader aspects of the sport.

The TOPGUN Nova partnership will teach the young drivers about the principles of marketing, how to attract sponsors and the importance of properly managing the team / sponsor relationship.

“I developed the program to provide my drivers exposure to these vital aspects of the sport. The driving talent is important but so is securing financial backing for a race team and this is something I wanted these guys to start thinking about," said Hunt.

“Knowing how to attract and properly manage sponsors is essential to being successful.

“The partnership with Nova is a fantastic way for me to demonstrate this to the boys and give them practical experience in managing a sponsor.”

Nova will be providing the TOPGUN drivers with promotional items that can be used at race days and also assisting the team with public relations activity.

“I am very excited about our deal with Nova," said Parsons.

“I think it will help us learn a lot about sponsorship and I am very thankful that they have given us this great opportunity."

Jonathan Venter is equally as excited about the partnership, “to have a well known company like Nova interested in helping us further our careers is awesome."

“I am looking forward to working with them and learning as much as possible. Hopefully we can get the Nova / TOPGUN racing team kart on the top step of the podium."

Parsons and Venter are currently racing in the CIK Stars of Karting series and have both achieved good results, with Jonathan finishing second in the first round. Hunt coaches both drivers and is hoping he can get them both on the podium to take out the series.

TOPGUN Racing has produced many Australian karting champions and drivers who are now racing V8 Supercars and in other categories of motor racing overseas.  Well known in the industry, Troy Hunt is himself a 7 time Australian karting champion and has raced at the highest possible level in Europe finishing eighth when he competed in the world championships.
