Get Your Discounted Transponder Now - Compulsory by July 1

AKA press release

With Australian karting set to make the next step in its electronic era on July 1, members are encouraged to purchase their transponders by June 30 to ensure they receive them at a discounted rate.

By purchasing a transponder from their Club or State Office at a discounted price *price may vary slightly depending on the location competitors will be provided with the opportunity to see all lap times from race events using the new AKA timing system, which is currently being rolled out across the country.

As advised by the AKA last year, on July 1 it will be compulsory for all competitors to have a transponder fitted to their kart while competing – with no exceptions.

“The AKA sees transponder timing as the final step in our process to reform karting through our Card (CMS) system and moves us into a new era in terms of the technology to be used in our sport,” said AKA National Treasurer Max Laybutt.

“With the licencing card system now active throughout Australia, adding transponders has ensured AKA members can take advantage of the most advanced system in karting and focus on what we do best – racing!

“Transponders have already become a condition of entry for most major events during the early part of 2010 as the transition into a complete electronic has been rolled out.

“The use of transponders at race events sanctioned by the AKA across the country will become compulsory on July 1. This date is not changing, it is happening and karters should get in now to ensure they get their transponder at the discounted rate and are ready to race”

With the implementation of the compulsory transponders from July 1 host clubs will have the ability to provide direct and live timing to people at race meetings on your own laptop, post the results on the AKA website, and on Mylaps, the AMB Information site, as soon as the results are uploaded to the AKA Site they will also go to Mylaps.
