Preview: 18th Annual AKA NSW Speedway Kart Titles

press release

The AKA NSW Speedway Kart Title is one event that all AKA speedway karters mark down on their racing calendars each year as an event not to be missed. The same situation has happened this year as over 90 drivers have pre-entered this time honored event.

The NSW Speedway Kart Club has been given the honor of staging the event this year and over 2 days of this weekend being Saturday and Sunday. These drivers will compete in 4 heats and a winner take all final.

As the event grows in stature so  does its reputation as a great weekend of racing and this year we have 5 AKA drivers venturing over from their familiar tar racing to give the speedway a go.

Entering  the meeting this year are four current titles holder who will defend their right to display the coveted blue plate on their karts signifying they are the champion.

However the story of the meeting will be  can current KT Modified champion John Watton take 3 titles in
a row? John won the event at Nepean in 2008 and then backed it up in Gosford last year . This year he has a field of 15 competing against him and will have his work cut out.

All the classes have strong quality fields and the person holding the blue plate at the presentation on Sunday afternoon will know they have truly raced hard to earn it .

The racing will commence on Saturday morning at 10 am as each driver competes in the first 3 of their heat races . The racing in these heats is vitally important as each finishing position has points attached to it and the final on Sunday is lined up on the highest points scorer to start form pole position.

On Sunday the drivers will have a last chance points qualifying heat race before all the points are added together to they line up the feature races.

As in all forms of speedway racing, the finals will determine just who will be crowned the 2010 NSW Champion.

The meeting is being staged at Nepean Motorsport Complex located on Rickards Road Castlereagh on both Saturday and Sunday . Racing commences both days at 10am and it hoped that racing will conclude by 2:30pm.

On Sunday afternoon there will be a presentation held and all members, families and guest are invited to stay and help celebrate the victors. The venue has full canteen facilities and is a very family friendly place to come and watch speedway racing in its purest form .

Entry cost to the venue is only $5 per adult and this represents the greatest speedway value in the country as you get watch the scheduled 35 events over the weekend .

The NSWSKC would like all speedway fans to come out to Nepean this weekend and enjoy  what is going to be a great event .
