Morey Tries Out F/Vee

Victorian Junior MAX driver Liam Morey had his first taste of a race car when he tested a Formula Vee at Winton last Friday. Liam completed around 65 laps of the Victorian country circuit aboard Junior Racing Development's Sabre 02.

Like Brittany Hall, Liam was identified by JRD as a capable young driver at this year’s Junior Top Guns meeting at Oakleigh.

He became the first karter to test the Sabre 02 chassis in its final configuration (Hall tested the Sabre 02 prototype in March) and JRD were keen to see how Liam would adapt to the car.

“Liam did a solid job behind the wheel as he learnt his way around a race car for the first time” said JRD’s Daniel Reinhardt. “Liam was attentive and stuck to our program. He was able to absorb the feedback
we provided him and transfer this back to his on track performance with positive results in changing conditions. We would be very happy to have Liam back in one of our cars again”.

“That was a blast" Liam commented after the test. "I had spoken to Brittany about what I could expect
which was fantastic, but nothing can really prepare you fully for your first race car experience. I gained a great deal of knowledge from the team throughout the entire test about developing my driving technique to suit
a car. The Sabre 02 was extremely good and its balance was excellent. I am already looking forward to getting back into the car again!”

Liam didn’t waste any time in getting back to some more driving with he and his father Pat heading off from Winton straight to round 2 of the Golden Power Series at Albury.
