press release

The Mt Gambier Karting Club are interested in making urgent contact with past members, families or anyone associated with the club through interclub events.

A weekend of celebration is planned for people who have been a part of the club’s history over the past 50 years commencing with a Dinner to be held at the exclusive Barn Palais on Saturday evening the 10th of July 2010.

Saturday’s festivities will commence at 5pm on Saturday with pre-dinner drinks and the viewing of memorabilia and photo displays prior to the serving of the evening meal.  The night will incorporate interviews with past and present members and the unveiling of a limited addition book capturing 50 years of karting in Mount Gambier.

The club would also like to hear from historic, vintage or classic karts drivers who would like to attend the dinner or are interested in being involved in Sundays Celebration Day.

On Sunday the club will be holding a Demonstration Meeting at the Glenburnie Circuit with entry checks, scrutineering and practice from 8am (more details on the KartSportNews Race Calendar page)

All historic, vintage and classic karts will be divided into 2 divisions with at least 2 runs each.  While later model karts will have 3 events for each of the 8 designated classes.

Sunday’s lunch break will be an ideal photographic opportunity with a controlled pace Grand Parade for all karts entered in Sunday event - both old and new together.

Karting enthusiasts, both past and present, are already expressing their excitement about the prospect of being a part of this exciting weekend.  Don’t miss the chance to see karts in action or to reminisce about karting adventures, wins or elaborate on stories to be told.
