TEKA Does The Double at Dubbo

press release

The great thing about travelling away with the TEKA is that you have exclusive use of the track from the moment you arrive. Some teams travelled up on the Friday for some sneaky practice, others opting to arrive for the start of the event on Saturday.

Welcome to a new team, (very new actually only taking delivery of their kart days prior, thanks to Vic at Homebush Bay Karts for getting them there) aptly named ‘Hope to finish’ #75. And great to see ‘Bullitt Racing’ #50 and the ‘Awesome Foursome’ #31 (this weekend a threesome) teams back for their second race after joining us one round prior.

In the B & S Animal class Dynamite #27 would try and extend their lead over team mates Buildline #9, with XLR8 #30 next trying to close the gap. Great to see Cameron and the team from Grey Ghost 2 joining us too!

In the Hondas, Dodgy Boys #26 and Grumpy Mongrels #76 had some work to do to catch the ever reliable WAR Racing. Blatt Racing #49 with good speed were still working their way back from some shocking luck earlier in the season.

In B grade, Ice Tech just had to consolidate with championship contenders Gozo #247 not making it to this particular round. It was the perfect opportunity for Palace Shakers #43 and Three R’s #78 to make up some ground on the leaders! RAD Racing #58 were in a slightly different guise with the girls away, Johnsy and Jordan taking their place for Jordan’s first drive in the seniors.

Qualifying would be determined by combining the top times of two drivers in two separate 10 min sessions. In the B & S class Dynamite were too strong but only by 2/10ths over their teammates at Buildline, followed by XLR8.

In the Honda class the fight was closer than close! JKR Benders #22 take the win by a under 1/100th sec from Grumpy Mongrels, not bad over two drivers!!! WAR 3rd followed by Dodgy Boys and DMP Racing #59.

This form of racing is every bit as exciting as sprint racing, just hours longer! Look at the qualifying! On top of the incremental differences seen in the B & S class and Honda A grade you wouldn’t believe B grade was just as close. Palace Shakers who have been chipping away earn themselves top spot by 4/100ths over The Awsome Threesome. Not far behind is RAD Racing then Three R’s in their new chassis.

The racing consisted of two races over two days, one 4 and the other 5 hours. The final result would be a reflection of the results achieved in each of the separate races.

After nine hours of racing the teammates at Jack Daniels Racing (Dynamite and Buildline) had not been separated by more than a couple of kart lengths Dynamite in the right spot at the right time to take the chequered flag in both races…just, earning them the win. XLR8 a trouble free run into 3rd position.

In the Honda A grade class Blatt Racing’s bad luck would continue over the weekend, a real shame considering their outright pace! WAR just too consistent and quick after nine hours and two days beat home Dodgy Boys, Baby Bonus finalising the perfect comeback on day two to take the last position on the podium in 3rd.

In B grade the The Awsome Threesome (sometimes foursome) were too consistent and quick staying out of trouble to take the win. RAD Racing put together two solid results over both races for 2nd place, and Ice Tech would be pleased with their points haul in 3rd.

In terms of the championship there will a huge amount of movement due to the double points offered, so keep an eye on it! Newcastle on the 24th & 25th July will be a huge event with practice and qualifying on Saturday and a 7 hour race on Sunday with well over 30 teams showing interest already.
