KF2 Replaces Super KF For 2010 World ChampionshipsA number of announcements for karting have come from the June meeting of the World Motor Sport Council in Geneva, the main one being the class change for this years' World Karting Championship. 2010 CIK-FIA World Karting Championship The CIK-FIA was concerned that the chances of attracting a decent field of Super KF was not good, and therefore switched the event over to KF2 which has more participants (more teams and manufacturers involved) and is more accessible technically and financially. The CIK-FIA World Cup for KF2, which was to be held within the framework of the same meeting, has thus transformed into the World Championship. In addition, drivers who were eligible for the World Cup for KF2 have been approved for inclusion in the event, as have those who qualified for the Super KF version. Entries will be open from 12 July to 17 August 2010. The final of the CIK-FIA World Karting Championship will be broadcast live on Eurosport International. Technical Regulations The eligibility of helmets complying with the Snell K98 standard will expire on 31/12/2014. The validity of the twelve models of inlet silencers homologated in 2004 is extended by 3 years and will be valid until 31/12/2012.
