On a warm sunny winters day at  Nepean Motorsport complex 72 drivers showed up to compete and the racing they  provided was hard, fast and spectacular.

With the amount of traffic on the track the heats were conducted on a tricky track with some minor ruts appearing, however in the lunch break track maintenance  provided a track where 5 of the 7 feature race winner came from the back of the grids. The  track was quick, wide and racey and all the drivers enjoyed the passing opportunities it provided.

The first class on track was the KT Modified Light class and Tim Beattie showed his dominance in the class with two wins and  two seconds across the 4 races. Places in the class were 1st Tim Beattie, 2nd Greg Coghlan, 3rd Graham Keats, feature winner was Tim Beattie

The mighty Midgets hit the track next and in an added bonus for the children they were competing for this year Bryan Foyle Cup. Wins across the heats went to Taylor Coghlan, Jake Donaldson and Kaidon Brown. The class had 11 drivers in the field and they all drove with maturity above their ages. However when all the racing was complete the placings  were 1st Jake Donaldson, 2nd Taylor Coghlan, 3rd Brittany Hickey. Handing out the trophies to the competitors was Bryan’s son Corey who showed class and dignity for someone so young.

The Formula 100 class had a small but talented  field competing on the day and it was wingless sprintcar driver Nathan Bailey and Sean Mayo fresh from his Nascar drive in the states tying on points at the end of the day. So on count back the 1st place was awarded to Nathan Bailey with Sean 2nd and finishing 3rd was the veteran of the class, Donald Stevens.

The Rookie class had a quality 7 kart field. Kyle Angel was successful with 3 wins of the 4 races with Luke Sayre being the only person to stop Kyle’s clean sweep. The placings for the Rookie class were 1st Kyle Angel, 2nd Luke Sayre, 3rd Andrew Beattie and Kyle won the feature race.

As was the case in the Rookies, for Clubman Heavy Tim Baker almost pulled off the clean sweep finding form and  winning 3 from the 4 races. Tim was only upstaged by the Old Fox Les Green who took out the feature race. The final placing for the class were  1st Tim Baker, 2nd James Camilleri, 3rd David Cochran.

The Junior class was very well represented and 15 young drivers faced the starters green flag. During the day such is the competition in this class 4 different drivers - Nathan Camilleri, Jake Baines, Reagan Angel and James Abela - all won races. At the end of the day 1st and 2nd were tied on points and 3rd was only 2 points back from them. The placings were 1st Regean Angel, 2nd Katelyn Hickey, 3rd Jake Baines and the feature winner was James Abela.

The final class that competed on the day was the KT Heavy class and 13 spirited drivers took to the track for some very exciting racing. Across the 4 races, Cameron Coghlan and Wayne Baines had 2 wins each and such is Cameron’s dominance of the class this year his feature race win from last position was one of the races of the day. The placings for the class were 1st Cameron Coghlan, 2nd Graham Keats and 3rd John Watton.
