Villeneuve For Canadian Karting Nationals

ekartingnews.ca reports that Jacques Villeneuve will compete in the Canadian Karting Nationals! The former F1 World champion and Indy 500 winner will compete in the Rotax DD2 class.

This would seem a strange move by the Canadian, as he did not do much karting in his pre-car racing youth and certainly has no significant karting results to date.

Australia's Darrell Smith will also attend as part of his role with BRP-Powertrain (Rotax) to support the competitors who race in the Rotax classes.

The event will be held at the new Mont-Tremblant circuit this weekend. Seven of the Rotax karters at the meeting will earn the chance to compete at the Rotax Max Challenge World Finals in Italy in November.
