Sera Makes It Number 4

press release

The 2010 Sparco Rotax Nationals were held on the 3rd/4th of September at Willowbank Raceway, Ipswich. Arrow Racing Karts driver David Sera collected his fourth consecutive Rotax Light crown in dominating fashion aboard his Arrow X1 CIK Chassis in wet and wild conditions.

Sera struggled to set the track alight in qualifying; only managing the 11th best time over the two sessions. An incident early in the first race hampered Sera’s result as he crossed the line in ninth position, suffering from a bent front end. After making a good start in the second heat race the Monster Energy backed Arrow was able to race to second position, and hold that until the finish line.

As the heavens opened up early Sunday morning, it was Sera who made light work of the slippery conditions to clear out and win the final heat race by an incredible 15 seconds. “The Monster Energy Arrow Kart was setup magnificently, I was able to clear out and drive my own race” said Sera. Starting on the third row of the grid for the pre final, and with the track slowly drying up, the Arrow driver had to settle for fourth position as tyre wear became apparent in the latter stages of the race. “I was aware that tyres would play a big part in the final, and I could literally see tread flying off the tyre. I knew I couldn’t catch the leaders, so I decided to sit back in fourth and save as much rubber as I could”.

A final downpour greeted the drivers as they left the grid for the 21 lap final, and it was Sera who raced to the lead in the opening laps to etch out a race winning advantage. As the laps went on, the lead grew further for the Melbournian as he went on to claim his fourth consecutive Rotax Light Championship and the eleventh National Title of his illustrious career. “To win four Rotax Light Titles in a row is a testament to the team at Arrow Karts, my engine builder Anthony Bartolo and also my dad, as we have all worked tirelessly over the years to prepare a fast kart. I have had great success at Ipswich in the past, and this weekend has continued my great run here.”

David Sera would like to thank Arrow Racing Karts, Monster Energy Drinks, Bell Helmets and J & A Tuning for their fantastic support.
