Arrow Shines At Rotax Nationals

press release

The 2010 Sparco Rotax Nationals were held on the 3rd/4th of September at Willowbank Raceway, Ipswich. Arrow Racing Karts driver David Sera collected his fourth consecutive Rotax Light crown in dominating fashion aboard his Arrow X1 CIK Chassis in wet and wild conditions.

As the heavens opened up early Sunday morning, it was Sera who made light work of the slippery conditions to clear out and win the final heat race by an incredible 15 seconds. Starting on the third row of the grid for the pre final, and with the track slowly drying up, the Arrow X1 driver had to settle for fourth position as tyre wear became apparent in the latter stages of the race. A final downpour greeted the drivers as they left the grid for the 21 lap final, and it was Sera who raced to the lead in the opening laps to etch out a race winning advantage. As the laps went on, the lead grew further for the Melbournian as he went on to claim his fourth consecutive Rotax Light Championship.

Sera wasn’t the only Arrow driver to greet the chequered flag first as dual Australian Champion Joseph Mawson put in a stellar performance to claim the Junior Max Heavy final in his Arrow X1-30. Mawson posted the fastest time in qualifying, and went on to win all three heat races, and the 20 lap final ahead of fellow Arrow driver Dale Corbett who pushed Mawson throughout the weekend.

Mawson also qualified fastest in Junior Max Light, and was a front runner throughout the weekend until an incident at the start of the final hurt his chances of winning another National Championship. Macauley Jones excelled in the wet conditions, finishing second place in the pre final and claiming his third Australian Championship podium with a third place finish in the Junior Max Light final.

Arrow Racing Karts would like to congratulate all who contributed to the fantastic results at the 2010 Sparco Rotax National Championships. We would also like to thank Bel-Ray Lubricants for their continued support of Arrow Racing Karts as we continue with our promising 2010 racing season.
