Numurkah Set For Titles This Weekend

press release

The Goulburn Valley Kart Club is pleased to host the 19th running of the Australasian Kart Titles. After an extensive development program the Numurkah Raceway has been transformed to provide Karter’s with a fantastic race track that will take the 2010 Australasian Kart Titles to a new level. The brilliant new race surface is billiard smooth and has already seen lap times tumble this season. The circuit has long been acknowledged as fast and flowing. With the grip levels now offered it is seriously quick.

To celebrate this new era of the Australasian Kart Titles, 2010 will see the return of Super 200 twin performance karts to the event, after an absence of over 2 decades. Having featured in recent GVKC meetings the Super 200 karts are astonishingly fast around the circuit and have put on some spectacular racing. It is with great anticipation we will see the return of these monsters to fight for the honour of the red plate.

The event has been an established breeding ground for young Karters, providing the opportunity to pit themselves against their peers and prepare for National and State championship challenges. All junior classes will again feature at this meeting including; Rookies, Midgets, Junior National, Junior Clubman and Junior Max. With support from the Moira Shire and Empire Trade Exchange, trophies will be presented to fifth place for all junior classes, as well as limited edition prints for the Champions.

Organisers anticipate over 250 racers will compete in up to 18 classes, including senior Clubman and Tag classes. Drivers will participate in four races over two days, culminating in a winner take all Championship final on Sunday afternoon. The Australasian Kart Title is a recognized Victorian Karting Association title and the victors are awarded an Australasian Kart Titles plate along with the right to carry the prestigious Champions, Red Number Plate. Reduced entry fees are offered to 2010 National and State Champions to attract the best of the best to this event.

The Goulburn Valley Kart Club recently celebrated 50 years of Karting having been established in 1959, making it one of the longest standing clubs in Australia. The picturesque Numurkah Raceway is positioned in North East country Victoria, nestled in a natural park setting. The original circuit layout remains unchanged, however the new race surface has improved the fast flowing nature of the 532m track. With average lap times in the 25 second range, the circuits uncompromising nature rewards consistent drivers placing a premium on every 10th of a second, providing a very different challenge to the larger circuits around the country.

The Goulburn Valley Kart Club is keen to continue the social fabric of the Australasian Kart Titles providing  a relaxed atmosphere combined with highly competitive racing. Camping is available on site, while catering will be provided over the course of the weekend - a bar and BBQ will be hosted at the conclusion of Saturday afternoons racing. The picturesque circuit is very spectator friendly, with several vantage points to view all the on track action. Not only will attendees see some great racing action, but this event will display all the great attractions of Kart racing. Spectators are very welcome.
