Ladies Class For Clyde Marshall Memorial

The Combined Districts Kart Club will run a Ladies Only class at the annual Clyde Marshall meeting next month. The girls will race Senior National at 140kg.

"The event will be run under Championship specifications with timed qualifying and racing over both days" the club informed KartSportNews.

With the success of Lithgow's annual Ladies Special Karting Event each January, plus the increased participation of women in the sport, the club decided to run a girls only class at the event, which takes place on October 23 and 24.

Ladies-specific karting classes were commonplace when the sport started and there was an Australian Championship class for ladies until around the mid 1980s.

"Participation in this event gives female karters a great opportunity to get in some pre Ladies Special Event race experience". The Ladies Special Event is in support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
