Third Win In a Row For Jets

press release

With the return of their youngest driver Jarrod Corney, the # 3 Jets Motorsport team, which included regular drivers Tim Gresham and Nicky Laskazeski, romped to victory in last weekend’s ‘Newcastle 7 Hour’.

In what was their third win of the year in a row, the # 3 Jets Motorsport team, who were debuting a brand new kart, claimed a commanding victory in the ‘Newcastle 7 Hour’, which was the seventh round of the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia NSW Endurance Kart Championship, by a complete lap ahead of the # 2 SCR (414 laps) in second place on the podium and third place on the podium was captured by newcomers # 10 JK Racing (413 laps).

Although the # 3 Jets Motorsport team won comfortably at the fall of the chequered flag they didn’t have it all their own and it was only the misfortune of the # 777 Horsepower Racing team in the final hour that denied everyone of a nail biting finish. The # 777 Horsepower Racing were able to match it with the # 3 Jets Motorsport team for the majority of the ‘Newcastle 7 Hour’ up until they suffered problems in the final hour and it consequently robbed them of challenging for the victory spoils or at least a spot on the podium.

Outside the ‘Newcastle 7 Hour’ podium finishes were # 23 Bell Pipes Racing (411 laps), # 66 Team Kaos (411), # 21 Walkos Racing (410), an unlucky # 777 Horsepower Racing (409), # 212 CJ Racing (406), # 7 Bang Bros Racing (406) and in 10th place was the # 41 Team Kartatak (406).

Aside from the hard luck story of # 777 Horsepower Racing, two other teams that deserved better results were the # 21 Walkos Racing and # 41 Team Kartatak. After earning pole position by blitzing the field in qualifying ahead of # 3 Jets Motorsport and # 2 SCR with a 56.626 lap, the # 21 Walkos Racing team was confident of being able to contend for the victory honours but it wasn’t to be and they finished back in sixth place. Proving their pace, the # 21 Walkos Racing team recorded the fastest lap of the race with a 57.115. The # 41 Team Kartatak drivers recorded their best qualifying result of fifth on the grid and looked on track for a podium finish during the ‘Newcastle 7 Hour’ up until they fell back down the field and finished in 10th place.

Another impressive ‘Newcastle 7 Hour’ performance was the # 80 Barra Motorsport team after they had qualified strongly in fourth place. However, during the race itself they were unable to duplicate that result and finished just outside the Top 10 in 11th.

The eighth and penultimate round of the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia NSW Championship is going to be held at Fairbairn Park Kart Track, near Canberra in the A.C.T, on Sunday, October 17 for the ‘Canberra 7 Hour’.
