CRG At The World Cup

press release

CRG’s drivers achieve a good performance in the CIK-FIA World Cup in the KZ1 and KF3 categories which took place in Portugal on the circuit of Braga recently.

Even though the Italian constructor did not take part in the competition with its best drivers in KZ1, the top category with gear shift dominated by CRG in the last three seasons thanks to Jonathan Thonon, the colours of CRG-Maxter were greatly represented by the young Dutch driver Jorrit Pex, member of the CRG Holland Team. In KF3, the “all black” drivers came out on top thanks to the child prodigy Max Verstappen, together with two other very young Italian drivers: ‘Speedy’ Antonio Fuoco’ and Alessio Profeta.

In KZ1, the seventeen-year-old Jorrit Pex made himself immediately conspicuous achieving a terrific pole position in the qualifying session, behaving very well in the heats too, where he gained an overall second place behind Lammers who, eventually, won the title. In the pre-final, Pex’s expectations were frustrated by technical troubles which put him immediately out of the game. Then, in the final, the Dutch driver recovered up to the fifteenth place, making himself conspicuous once more thanks to his performance. Not bad for such a young driver in a professional category like the KF1.

In KF3, Max Verstappen confirmed to be one of the most promising young drivers. After winning the WSK Euro Series 2010, he is now battling for the win in the World series. He is not thirteen yet (his birthday is on next thirtieth September), but despite his young age on the track of Braga he tried to lay his hands on the KF3 title of the CIK-FIA too. Unfortunately, at the end of the race he had to be happy to come in second behind his most competitive rival, the British driver Albon, even though in the first laps the expectations for a complete success were high. However, for the young son of the former F1 driver Jos Verstappen it is a good result, which puts him definitely among the most promising drivers of international karting.

In KF3 the two CRG-Maxter Official Team Italian drivers too drew the attention to themselves. ‘Speedy’, alias Antonio Fuoco, came in 24th in the final, after a series of unfortunate events during the heats; Alessio Profeta, who is still getting used to his new team, is making progress fast.
