THE SUCCESS
Nyck De Vries, IAME and Zanardi win the 2010 CIK-FIA World Karting Championship run with KF2 engines.

In the rainy conditions of the qualifying session the Dutchman is only 17th (so starting disadvantaged in every heat), but he is immediately great: although suffering the wet track he is 10th in the first heat and then leads the remaining heats, also clocking the best lap in both.

He starts 10th in the pre final and looses two positions at the start so he is forced to push harder: a 3rd would be perfect for the final grid and there he goes! He also clocks unbelievable lap times. In the final, after a moment when the situation seemed frozen, the recovery is incredible and in the final lap, with an impressive passing move, Nyck De Vries shows all his ability, that of a World Champion.

THE IAME DOMINION
Stefano Cucco’s (Birel/Parilla) great 9th place is another demonstration of the Parilla engines value. Making his debut in high level competitions, Cucco is able to make the most out of the engine, clocking laps equal to those of the 2nd classified.

In the qualifying session Cucco is only 15th but then in the heats he collects two 2nd places and a 4th. In the prefinal he succeeds in starting 8th and ends up 10th being even faster in the final with a brilliant 9thoverall placement. Antonio Giovinazzi (Top Kart/Parilla) does a great job too: bad in the qualifying session (64°), he is a fury in the heats (also considering he starts always from the last row): 4th, 7th and 10th place.

In the pre final he starts 19° but is immediately pushed out of the race, he then starts from 33rd position in the final; clocking laps close to those of the top drivers, he finishes 12th after a huge recovery, being the driver to gain the most positions (even 22).

AGAIN THE PARILLA ENGINES...
Luca Ghiotto (Zanardi/Parilla) suffers for a 10 seconds penalty in one of the heats and even with a 2nd place in the final heat, he qualifies last for the finals. In the pre final he recovers to 24th place, but in the final he is forced to start from the bottom of the grid after a contact and finishes then the race in 28th position.

A re-markable performance, even if not qualified, comes also from David Da Luz (Zanardi/Parilla) ending 7th in the consolation final and from a surprising Jarno Hamppi (Birel/ Parilla) who, after two fantastic heats (8th e 9th) ends up the third in 24th place due to a penalty and being then excluded from the finals.

THE COMMENT - ANDREA BOSSAGLIA IAME TECHNICAL ENGINEER COMMENTS ON THE RACE
"We could say many things, from the thrill of the final to Nyck’s tricks to reach and pass Jordan, to how important was to run the World Championship with KF2 engines, the category of the public and the Customers, and to how inappropriate was the choice of running only three heats with the risk of being out of the finals after the first contact!

But first of all today is a great party, the big efforts have been visible, measurable and now affordable to everyone. I wish to thank those who made this possible: from Dino Chiesa and all his team, to Bruno Bugini and his “no-holydays”, to everyone in our racing department, to IAME and to all those people who everyday work for it”.
