Two Red Plates for A1 Engines

press release

Last weekend the Goulburn Valley Kart club hosted its  annual Australasian Kart Titles which saw  the winner of each class take  home the  prestigious red plate.

It was a successful weekend for all A1 Engine drivers. We had Reece Sidebottom, who has  only competed in a handful of races in Rookies, take it up to some of the best Rookie drives in the state. With some hard work and exceptional driving in the final Sidebottom took the win.

Reece was not the only A1 Engine to win, we also had Thomas Allen, competing in the Junior National Heavy class, who really deserved his win. In the final Allen did not lead every lap, however it was in the last couple of laps he closed the gap on the leader and then used his home track knowledge to pass the leading group with only a couple of laps to go. Allen then lead the Junior National Heavy class to the checkered flag. This is Allen’s first colored plate and we hope it is not his last. Standing next to Allen on the podium, in third place, was Mason Thomas who managed to get his kart humming for the final.

In the Midget class young Thomas Bennett drove with sheer determination which saw him run with the leading pack all weekend.  His efforts were rewarded with second place in Sunday afternoon's final.

Mason also completed in the  Junior Clubman class where he had a great weekend. He successfully  crossed the line in third position in the final. His fellow A1 Engine driver Gus Robbins also made his way up to a podium finish in 5th place.

In the Senior National Pro class we had three A1 drivers competing. Tyler Cramer had the weight on his shoulders to win the Australasian Kart Titles again to hold onto his red plate. Unfortunately  in the final he was just beaten over the line, finishing in a respectable second place. It was good to see that A1 Engine drivers had the pace to win with Hayden Dodman in the final setting the fastest lap time which saw Dodman eventually going over the line in third position. Right on his tail was Nicholas Ellen in fourth.

In Dodman's first senior open he also competed in Clubman Heavy. To his luck and persistent driving, he found himself right up the competitive end in all four races. Dodman  crossed the finishing line in the final  in third position topping  off a great weekend. Thomas and Dodman were not the only A1 drivers  to take home two trophies for their weekend's work, Tyler Cramer also proved his speed in the Clubman Light class by  finishing  second in the highly competitive class.

Well done to all A1 Engine drivers, you have done us all proud.
