Four Wins & Two Championships For Glaze

press release

Coming off an amazing performance at the Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship (BSRKC) Ontario Grand Nationals at Shannonville Motorsports Park, Michael Glaze entered the final BSRKC event of the year at 3S Go-Karts in Sutton, Ontario with a chance to win two more BSRKC championships. Entering both the Rotax Senior and Rotax DD2 classes, Glaze looked to continue a winning streak that started back in May in the DD2 class, while two solid results in Rotax Senior could secure him the championship in a come from behind fashion.

The double-header weekend featured racing on both Saturday and Sunday for each class. Up first for Glaze would be the Rotax DD2 race. Since the second race of the season back in May, Glaze hasn’t lost a race in the DD2 class and with a great start, he was well on his way to continuing that streak. Leading all twenty laps, win number six was in the books.

In his second race of the day, Glaze started on the pole-position for the Rotax Senior race. After a setback at the opening round race in Kawartha, Glaze has been behind the eightball all season long, slowly working his way back to the top of the point standings. Driving away for a nearly three-second victory, Glaze came that much closer to the lead and championship.

“Saturday was a very good day,” explained Glaze. “Everything went very well, and we were rewarded with two victories.”

Returning on Sunday, Glaze found himself in a great battle for the win in the Rotax DD2 class. After grabbing the lead on the opening start, he found himself in second near the halfway mark. Hounding the leader throughout the remaining laps, he tried many times to take the lead, but couldn’t quite complete it. Entering the final lap, Glaze setup to make his pass in the tight turn nine corner. Contact exiting the corner with the leader unfortunately cost him the win, and although he crossed in first, he was accessed a one-position penalty, ending his winning streak.

“The call was questionable, but I’m still very happy to win the championship,” continued Glaze following Sunday’s trophy presentations.

In his final race of the weekend, Glaze needed a solid result in Rotax Senior to claim his second championship of the weekend. Once again starting on the pole-position, he paced twenty perfect laps, and in doing so, won the race and the championship.

“I really have to thank my dad and everyone at GP Karts/Innisfil Indy. They all supported me this season, and to win two championships is very rewarding,” smiled Glaze.

The double championship performance earned Glaze the ‘Autosports Media Group Senior Driver of the Weekend’ award for the second time this season, and the only driver to win it twice in 2010.

This event concludes the regional action for Glaze this season. With only a handful of club races left on the calendar, he will soon begin his preparations for the 2011 season. Michael Glaze is supported by: Tottenham IGA, Midas, RoadRunner Engines, and GP Karts/Innisfil Indy.
