Nothing Is Lost For Visser

press release

Regardless of the final outcome of the karting event she races in, Beitske Visser has got into the excellent habit of fighting in the lead pack and of stamping her authority on the race, thanks to her level of performance and assertiveness. This was again the case for the young Dutch driver at Val Vibrata (Italy), during the second round of the WSK Master Series. However, while she was well on her way to a podium finish, a collision had the better of her, despite her determination. But everything is still possible in the championship...

Beitske Visser came to the Val Vibrata circuit still galvanised by her victory in Siena, at the opening meeting of the WSK Master Series. She is the only girl in the KZ2 category in this "mixed" sport and she has known from the beginning of the season that she would receive no favours from her male opponents. On the contrary, they are all trying to defeat this young hopeful (15) who has achieved a growing number of successes in 2010.

With the support of Italians with a better knowledge than hers of this circuit situated on the Adriatic coast, Beitske achieved the third best performance during timed qualifying, just one tenth of a second away from the pole position. Visser went immediately on the attack on the first heat. After a hard fight in the lead pack, it was the Dutch girl who won the race. At the arrival, the first five drivers were just in one second! The following two heats proved to be more complicated...

"I made a good start in the second qualifying heat, but my engine began to stop from time to time I lost a lot of time and I slipped down to eighth. After the race, the team realised there was a problem with the fuel pump, something that happens very seldom. In the third heat, it started to rain and in those conditions I had some hard time with my Dunlop tyres, which are not my favourites. Road holding was not optimal and I could not do better than seventh, so I was fifth on the pre-final start grid".

Visser took advantage of the new race to start a superb series of overtaking manoeuvres and climbed up to third place. For the final, she preserved a very much coveted place on second row. "Everything went fine for me when the lights went off, but there were some troubles in the pack and I lost some places. The, I wanted to pass Aceto again. But when I tried, he moved towards me and I found myself in the grass at high speed. Then, I suffered a collision when my kart went back on the track. I tried to continue, but after heavy damage caused to my kart, I was forced to retire".

Beitske Visser could be legitimately disappointed: her podium hopes vanished, while the Italian driver Zanchetta replaced her as leader of the WSK Master Series provisional standings. "At the last meeting in Castelletto, there will be no room for doubts or questions. Victory will be my goal. My fate in the championship is in my hands. When it is over, we will make an assessment of the situation". Let's not forget that at the beginning of the season, this fast Dutch driver conquered the pole position at the Andrea Margutti Trophy, on the Castelletto di Branduzzo circuit. This time too, opponents will have to watch out for Beitske and her Intrepid-TM.
