Visser Victory In WSK Master Series

press release

In karting, there are not many girls brave enough to race at the highest international level in a sport where girls and boys compete together. Those willing to venture in the KZ2 category (125cc gearbox karts) are equally rare... and even rarer are those who win! Dutch lady driver Beiske Visser has taken up all these challenges with her incredible mental strength and driving talent, so much so that she has conquered the WSK Master Series title after another victory in Castelletto di Branduzzo.

After Siena and Val Vibrata, the WSK Master Series final round came to Castelletto di Branduzzo, south of Milan. It is a circuit where Beitske Visser has already shown her burst of speed by achieving the pole position at the beginning of the season, at the Andrea Margutti Trophy. Once again, the Dutch girl has shown her incredible speed. "I set the third best time in timed qualifying, but the race was still very open, since the first five drivers were all in less than 8/100ths of a second!" Beitske commented.

During the heats, she quickly confirmed her speed and regularity by finishing second three times. "In the first heat, it took the chassis a few laps to gain full effectiveness, so I could get closer to the leader only at race's end, without even a chance to pass him. In the following two heats, I lost a few places at the start, but then I finished each time in second place, with the two best lap times".

She started the pre-final fully confident at the wheel of her Intrepid-TM. "At the start, I could pass on the inside of the track in Celenta's wake. I felt really well and knowing that I still had a small chance to win the WSK motivated me even more". Visser finally found an opening and triumphed despite his opponent's pressure at the end of the race. Determined to maintain her first place in the final and more focussed than ever, Beitske finished a fantastic clean race, this time over two seconds ahead. A textbook performance that was rightly appreciated by the public and the paddock of the Italian circuit. "On arrival, I felt a great joy after this victory. But I have chosen karting not only to show that a girl can be as good as boys, but also to win, regardless of who my rivals are, and to start a successful career in car sports".

Beitske Visser arrived in Castelletto with a minus 55 point gap from Zanchetta after all her bad luck in Val Vibrata, but she managed to turn the situation to her favour in the Championship. "My goal this weekend was to score as many points as possible, 65, and that's exactly what I have done", Beitske added proudly. Beitske Visser and Marco Zanchetta had the same number of points, but with two victories for the Dutch girl and just one for the Italian driver, Beitske was crowned winner of the first edition of the very prestigious WSK Master Series. At just 15, it was another extraordinary exploit for this girl, who is determined to repeat her excellent performances at another top level event, the Monaco Kart Cup.
